Johnson Controls is developing a thermal management ecosystem that enables continuous technical advancement and delivers reliable, scalable, and energy-efficient cooling solutions for the evolving needs of global data centers.

If new product introductions and the enhancement of sustaining products in a fast-paced environment excite you, join us as a Product Manager. We are looking for talent to expand our liquid cooling platforms for data centers, with a focus on CDUs, modular liquid cooling platforms, sidecars, Secondary Fluid Networks (SFNs), manifolds, and the broader end-to-end liquid cooling portfolio.

You will lead the strategy, development, and lifecycle management of these products and systems. This role combines technical expertise, market insight, and business acumen to deliver innovative solutions for hyperscale, enterprise, and edge data centers.

You will focus on long-term customer satisfaction, competitive advantage, market share growth, and increased profitability across the data center thermal product portfolio.

Work Location

This is a hybrid position based in New Freedom, Pennsylvania, or Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Employees are expected to work from the office at least three days per week. Candidates must live within commuting distance of one of these locations or be willing to relocate.

How You Will Do It

  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle and business results of a product line.
  • Develop product roadmaps and strategic business plans, prioritizing the activities and actions needed to achieve growth.
  • Drive strategy within the assigned area of influence, with a focus on business and profit growth.
  • Manage legacy products, services, and offerings while developing innovative solutions and business models.
  • Own product profitability and drive positive financial results.
  • Gather and analyze economic, financial, market, and industry information, including market share, ROI, IRR, and NPV.
  • Apply pricing strategies within the broader business strategy, assess the impact of pricing decisions, and conduct customer segmentation, win-loss, and price-realization analysis.
  • Maintain a competitive database of products, services, and offerings.
  • Translate value propositions into compelling business cases that support growth.
  • Provide application information to Marketing to support collateral development and begin establishing industry relationships.
  • Support channel partners and foster relationships with key customers.
  • Drive a customer-centric approach to product, service, and offering management.
  • Clearly communicate findings and implications, explain why the information matters, and drive the resulting actions.
  • Support key business projects and programs in partnership with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment on scope, objectives, schedule, and budget.
  • Support the development of project and program budgets.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ten years of professional experience, including two to three years of product, service, or offering management experience.
  • Experience providing direction and leadership to highly educated engineering teams.
  • Experience partnering with Sales and business leadership and presenting product performance, cost, pricing, competitive benchmarking, and market trend analyses to influence strategic decisions.
  • Ability to gather and analyze economic, financial, market, and industry information.
  • Ability to take calculated risks using facts, data, and scenario-planning tools.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, commitment to quality, and a results-driven, customer-focused approach.
  • Strong written, editing, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex issues and projects succinctly, logically, and persuasively.
  • Ability to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or another graduate degree, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Strong understanding of data center design, operations, and advanced thermal management technologies.
  • High-level understanding of market trends in the data center or a related industry.
  • Experience engaging with customers, gathering voice-of-customer insights, and managing complex customer issues.
  • Strong VOC capabilities, with the ability to translate customer experiences into implications for new product introductions, trade-offs, and growth opportunities.
  • Understanding of strategic and market levers used to build successful growth plans.
  • Ability to understand and implement transactional pricing recommendations.
  • Basic understanding of value pricing and value-capture models.
  • Basic understanding of budgeting and key financial indicators, including ROI, IRR, and NPV.
  • Ability to follow established guidelines and processes, including capital requests.
  • Basic understanding of business models such as subscriptions, product or service delivery, and distribution.
  • Working knowledge of the industries and applications supported by the product, service, or offering.
  • Understanding that strategy is an ongoing process rather than a one-time event.
  • Ability to prioritize the actions that matter most when developing a business or strategic plan, including the ability to say no when appropriate.

Compensation and Benefits

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $125,000.00 – 160,000.00 USD Annual. Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
