The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, with a strong commitment to accuracy, independence, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Support the team's coverage of Australian diversified financials companies, including insurers, wealth managers, asset managers, exchanges, payments companies, non-bank lenders, financial technology businesses, and other financial services firms.
  • Maintain and enhance company financial models, sector databases, and valuation frameworks.
  • Analyse company financial statements, earnings releases, regulatory filings, and industry data.
  • Monitor company announcements, market developments, regulatory changes, and macroeconomic trends.
  • Conduct fundamental research on listed companies, including financial analysis, earnings forecasting, valuation, and investment recommendation development.
  • Draft timely company updates, earnings reviews, industry reports, and thematic research pieces.
  • Participate in meetings with company management teams, industry experts, and institutional investors.
  • Contribute to franchise-building initiatives through thematic projects, client marketing activities, and collaboration with regional and global research teams.
  • Respond promptly to client requests for data, analysis, financial models, and bespoke research.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in sell-side or buy-side equity research, investment banking, asset management, consulting, or a related financial services role.
  • Experience covering diversified financials, financial services, business services, fintech, or broader financial institutions sectors is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of accuracy and quality while managing multiple priorities.
  • Advanced financial modelling, accounting, and valuation skills, with the ability to analyse business performance, competitive positioning, and industry dynamics.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex investment ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative team player with intellectual curiosity, sound commercial judgement, and a strong interest in financial markets and equity investing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline; CFA progress or qualification is advantageous.

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • Knowledge of the Australian financial services landscape, regulatory environment and key industry trends impacting the sector.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint, and financial database skills (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, Capital IQ, Visible Alpha).

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
