Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Martech Director within Jellyfish in Australia. Insights and marketing science operate as a single discipline containing two crafts. The Insights Analyst is responsible for performance interpretation and recommendations. You will be responsible for establishing causation. Both work closely with the Data Scientist.

The role covers both components of Marketing science; designing and running the measurement, and building and defending the models, weighted towards the former on appointment and towards the latter as the capability develops. The Director holds the most complex methodological decisions in the interim. The role sets technical direction for the analysts and data scientists working on measurement. Line management sits with the Director.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

- Be a passionate subject matter expert on digital measurement and analysis (inc. web analytics, app tracking, audience strategy) and possess a strong understanding of the digital ecosystem, particularly Google Marketing Platform and associated technologies.

- Responsible for the renewals of GA360 licences for the clients you work on.

- Identify new opportunities for clients within our Martech capability (e.g., EC, COMO, sGTM, o2o, CAPI, VBB, dashboarding, data monitoring, privacy score, measurement framework, advanced measurement consulting etc).

- Be involved in business growth, contributing to client pitches, project scoping and helping to develop technical partnerships.

- Create and expand a diverse portfolio of case studies that highlight Jellyfish's capabilities and successful outcomes. Each case study will align with a specific industry vertical (e.g., CPG, Retail, Automotive, Healthcare/Pharma, Finance) to demonstrate expertise and influence in those sectors.

- Drive sustainable project profitability and resource efficiency.

- Create original content through leadership to highlight Jellyfish expertise to clients, partners and potential new prospects.

- Coach and empower team members of the Analytics team.

- Manage the region's commercials, including revenue, profitability, revenue per head and billability.

Technical Environment

- Measurement framework. How marketing mix modelling, multi-touch attribution and experimentation relate to one another: the validity conditions for each, their respective blind spots, and the methods used to triangulate between them.

- Platform. Google Cloud. BigQuery at an advanced level, including complex joins across event-level data, window functions, query optimisation and cost control, scheduled queries and materialised views. GA4 raw exports as a primary data source.

- Statistics and data science. Regression and time series analysis, Bayesian inference, causal inference methods, and model diagnostics. Python or R for modelling.

- Modern measurement. Marketing mix modelling, including open-source frameworks. Incrementality testing and geo-based experimental design. Holdout design. Attribution beyond platform defaults, including custom and algorithmic models built in BigQuery. Measurement under consent, signal loss and platform change.

- Media. Planning and buying models across paid channels, platform reporting and its limitations, and conversion APIs.

- Visualisation. Tableau, Looker Studio, as required by the measurement work.

Qualifications

- 7+ years of experience in analytics or digital marketing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in an agency setting prefered .

- Demonstrable ability to work across measurement methods: how marketing mix modelling, multi-touch attribution and incrementality relate, where each is unreliable, and how to resolve conflicting results.

- Experience leading or mentoring analysts or data scientists, including technical review of other people's modelling work.

- Advanced SQL and advanced BigQuery, including optimisation of complex queries over raw event data.

- Statistical grounding in regression, time series, uncertainty and model diagnostics, with the ability to explain these to a non-technical client.

- Models you have built rather than operated. Marketing mix modelling preferred; comparable modelling experience with clear intent to specialise will be considered.

- Experience designing measurement, not only interpreting it: incrementality, geo testing or holdout design.

- Attribution beyond platform defaults, including custom or algorithmic approaches and their limitations.

- Python or R at a working level for modelling.

- Media grounding, through either direct planning and buying experience or sustained measurement of media performance.

- Ability to present and defend methodology to senior client stakeholders.

- Judgement to identify when a question cannot be answered with the data available, and what would be required to answer it.

Note: We emphasise skills, expertise and behavioural attributes over years of experience and traditional degrees. If you want to join our collaborative team, we invite you to apply today with your resume in English.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
