Position Summary

The Sr. Manager, Value Stream Leader - Surgical Energy is accountable for shaping and advancing the end-to-end strategy and performance of assigned product value streams. The role connects Supply Chain, Commercial, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, and other partners to translate business priorities and customer needs into executable product, portfolio, network, capacity, risk, and lifecycle strategies.

Scope may span one or more Surgical Energy platforms—including HARMONIC, ENSEAL, MEGADYNE, and Capital Systems—based on team priorities. Assignments may evolve as portfolio needs change. The Senior Manager will lead through influence in a complex, global matrix and will balance growth, quality, service, cost, cash, compliance, innovation, and supply resilience when making recommendations and driving decisions.

This role operates at the Senior Manager level and is expected to independently lead medium-scale or interconnected value streams, address systemic cross-functional barriers, and communicate recommendations to senior leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Value stream strategy and governance

  • Lead the development, refresh, alignment, and execution of Product Strategy Roadmaps for assigned value streams, translating commercial, R&D, financial, and supply chain strategies into a prioritized multi-year roadmap.
  • Establish effective value stream governance, decision rights, performance routines, and stakeholder engagement across the global matrix.
  • Connect long-range portfolio plans with network strategy, strategic capacity, lifecycle management, new product introduction, risk and resilience, and annual business planning.

Performance, financial, and portfolio leadership

  • Define and monitor end-to-end value stream performance across quality, service, cost, cash, growth, compliance, and resilience; use data to identify trends, root causes, constraints, and improvement priorities.
  • Own value stream inputs to financial planning and synchronize assumptions, opportunities, risks, and trade-offs with Finance and functional partners.
  • Develop scenarios, business cases, and recommendations covering portfolio mix, SKU rationalization, cost and inventory optimization, capital investments, capacity, sourcing, manufacturing, distribution, and network design.
  • Drive prioritization of lifecycle and continuous-improvement investments, ensuring resources are directed to the highest-value customer and business outcomes.

Cross-functional execution and risk management

  • Lead cross-functional teams to resolve systemic barriers that hinder value flow, clarify ownership, accelerate decisions, and sustain measurable improvements.
  • Identify, assess, prioritize, and mitigate end-to-end product and supply risks, including quality, capacity, supplier, continuity, obsolescence, and compliance risks.
  • Support structured response and executive communication for significant supply or quality events while reinforcing functional accountability for operational execution.
  • Partner with new product and lifecycle teams to ensure supply chain readiness, appropriate network and supplier decisions, effective phase-in/phase-out planning, and stable commercialization.

Leadership and communication

  • Influence across functions, regions, and organizational levels to build alignment and drive timely, fact-based decisions in ambiguous and complex situations.
  • Prepare clear executive-level updates on value stream performance, strategic choices, risks, dependencies, and required decisions.
  • Serve as a change agent for the end-to-end operating model, governance standards, digital tools, and continuous-improvement practices.
  • Coach and develop value stream partners and emerging leaders, strengthen team capabilities, and foster an inclusive, accountable, and customer-focused culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, operations, business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in end-to-end supply chain, manufacturing, planning, sourcing, distribution, engineering, R&D, commercial, project or program management, or a related function.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and deliver measurable results in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain linkages across demand and supply planning, sourcing, manufacturing, inventory, distribution, and customer service.
  • Experience developing strategy, roadmaps, business cases, scenarios, and recommendations from multiple sources of quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen, including the ability to evaluate cost, inventory, capital, profitability, and service trade-offs.
  • Strong facilitation, stakeholder management, written communication, and executive presentation skills.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, constructively challenge assumptions, and drive decisions without direct authority.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree such as an MBA or master’s degree in engineering, supply chain, operations, or a related field.
  • Experience in medical devices, healthcare manufacturing, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience with value stream management, product strategy roadmaps, lifecycle management, portfolio optimization, risk and resilience, strategic capacity, network strategy, or new product introduction.
  • Project or program management certification and/or Lean or Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience working in a global environment and with internal and external manufacturing or supplier networks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and data visualization or analytics tools.

Other Requirements

  • Up to 25% domestic and international travel may be required.
  • Must be able to work effectively across time zones and with globally distributed teams.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
