Inter IKEA Group brings together three core businesses: Retail Concept, Range and Supply. The core business Supply include e.g. business units IKEA Industry and IKEA Components. Together we work constantly to improve the IKEA home furnishing offer and make it more accessible for the many people. IKEA Supply is responsible for sourcing, manufacturing, transporting, storing, and supplying the global IKEA range of furniture, furnishings as well as food. The Legal & Governance function of core business IKEA Supply provides legal advice within a wide spectrum of areas. 

Job description

We are looking to strengthen our legal support to core business Supply, with focus on wholesale related activities for Inter IKEA Group, by recruiting a skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team.

As Legal Counsel, you will be a trusted adviser to our wholesale business, providing pragmatic, business-oriented legal support across our international purchasing, distribution and sales activities. You will work in a truly global environment, partnering with colleagues across Supply and Inter IKEA Group within legal, purchasing, logistics, finance and tax. In this role you will:

  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements supporting wholesale operations, including supply, purchasing, distribution, transport, logistics and warehousing arrangements.
  • Advise the business on cross-border sale of goods, international trade terms, title transfer and delivery risk.
  • Support purchasing and sourcing teams on transport and distribution service contracts globally.
  • Provide legal guidance on intra-group agreements and the flow of goods between supply service entities and franchisees.
  • Advise on regulatory and compliance matters relevant to wholesale and supply activities, including customs, trade compliance, sanctions and product-related requirements.
  • Manage and mitigate legal risk in commercial disputes and support the resolution of claims relating to supply, quality and delivery.
  • Instruct and coordinate external counsel across multiple jurisdictions, managing scope, quality and cost.
  • Contribute to the development of legal templates, playbooks and ways of working that enable the business to move quickly and safely.

Qualification

In order to successfully fill this position, the IKEA values reflect upon your values, you share the IKEA Vision and Business Idea, and you bring:

  • Law degree with several years' post-qualification experience gained in-house and/or in a reputable law firm, with a clear focus on commercial, supply chain or wholesale-related work.
  • Several years of IKEA experience in contracting and organisational structure.
  • Solid knowledge of international sale of goods, maritime- and road transport, commercial contracting and cross-border trade.
  • Experience with distribution (supply) agreements in franchise set ups.
  • Experience from logistics and food.
  • Experience advising a global business and comfort operating across multiple legal systems and cultures.
  • The ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical advice for a commercial audience.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, sound judgement and a genuine sense of ownership.
  • A collaborative, down-to-earth working style that fits our values-driven culture.
  • Successful in building trustful relations in multicultural environments and high level of integrity.
  • Driven team player who can work independently as well.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Pragmatic, solution-oriented, hands-on and cost-conscious.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
