The posting

Are you passionate about underwriting and ready to make a real impact in one of the world's leading reinsurance companies? Do you thrive in an international environment, building meaningful relationships with clients and brokers while assessing some of the most complex property risks in the market? If so, we want to hear from you.

About the Role

This is your opportunity to take ownership of a dynamic and rewarding underwriting role at the heart of Swiss Re's Facultative EMEA business. As an Underwriter Facultative Property for the Western & Southern Europe Desk, you will evaluate, underwrite, and originate facultative property businesses across a diverse and exciting range of risk types.

Property facultative underwriting is at the core of Swiss Re-s reinsurance and directly contributes to its commercial success. You-ll engage with clients on their largest property risks while connecting internally with colleagues across front- and back-office teams. Working in a highly international environment, you-ll interact with clients across major European markets and gain global exposure.

This role offers significant space to develop your own ideas, find creative solutions, and directly contribute to the growth and success of our franchise.

Key Responsibilities

* Evaluate and underwrite facultative property risks across Western & Southern European markets, applying sound technical judgement and leveraging state-of-the-art modelling tools

* Originate new business by identifying and pursuing opportunities across the region, contributing to portfolio growth and profitability

* Assess a wide range of risk types, including fire, natural catastrophe, and industrial property risks, using both experience and cutting-edge analytical tools

* Foster and develop client and broker relationships, building trust and long-term partnerships that deliver value for both clients and Swiss Re

* Contribute to portfolio steering, monitoring performance and supporting data-driven decision-making

* Collaborate cross-functionally with key account managers, client managers, market underwriters, and treaty underwriters to deliver integrated solutions

* Share knowledge and expertise across the team, supporting a culture of continuous learning and professional development

* Develop creative, tailored solutions for clients, bringing an entrepreneurial mindset and fresh perspective to complex challenges

About the Team

As part of this role, you'll join the Global Facultative Market Unit in EMEA - a truly international and diverse team of around 90 colleagues spread across EMEA locations, where collaboration and team spirit are embedded in everything we do.

Our underwriters bring deep expertise and strong, long-standing market relationships, having built a leading franchise in the FAC EMEA markets with a proud track record of excellence in single-risk underwriting. We are a team that challenges each other, supports one another, and consistently strives to bring value to our clients and to Swiss Re.

We believe in continuous growth and invest in our people. You'll benefit from a comprehensive learning environment that combines hands-on experience, peer-to-peer learning, and structured training - covering both underwriting-specific knowledge and broader professional development opportunities. Your background and experience will give you a strong foundation, and we'll make sure your journey continues to accelerate.

About You

We are looking for someone who is curious, driven, and ready to make a difference. You bring a blend of technical underwriting expertise and strong interpersonal skills, and you're energised by working in a fast-paced, international environment. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
