Технолог должен знать: Федеральный закон ''О Федеральном железнодорожном транспорте'', Правила технической эксплуатации на железных дорогах (ПТЭ), инструкцию по текущему содержанию пути, инструкцию по сигнализации, инструкцию по обеспечению безопасности движения поездов при производстве путевых работ, правила и технологию выполнения основных работ при текущем содержании пути, правила по охране труда при содержании и ремонте железнодорожного пути и сооружений, стандарты предприятия, положения о дисциплине работников ж.д. транспорта и другие нормативно-инструктивные указания по кругу своих обязанностей. путевые знаки и сигналы, все виды материалов для устройства верхнего строения пути, данные по устройству верхнего строения пути и земляного полотна и требования по их эксплуатации, способы и приёмы выполнения работ при монтаже и демонтаже конструкций верхнего строения пути. способы и приемы производства работ с применением ручного электрифицированного и пневматического инструмента общего назначения и гидравлических приборов, способы и приёмы выполнения работ при текущем содержании пути с применением ручного инструмента и приспособлений.
