Машинист экскаватора обязан: Принимать меры по сохранности экскаватора и имущества, находящегося в нем. Заправлять экскаватор топливом, смазочными материалами и охлаждающей жидкостью. Перед выездом на линию убедиться в полноте и правильности заполнения всех реквизитов путевого листа, выезжать из гаража только по правильно оформленным путевым листам. Проверять техническое состояние экскаватора перед выездом на линию, подписывать путевой лист о технически исправном состоянии экскаватора. Проходить ежедневный пред рейсовый и после рейсовый медицинский осмотр. Если техническое состояние транспортного средства не отвечает требованиям ПДД, иных нормативных документов, машинист экскаватора обязан сообщить об этом механику для принятия мер по устранению недостатков и получения указаний о дальнейшей работе. Подготовленный для работы на линии экскаватор должен предъявить для осмотра механику контрольно-технического пункта. По возвращению с линии ставить экскаватор на отведенное место. В случае ДТП или обнаружения ДТП с участием транспортных средств своего предприятия обязан немедленно сообщить (по телефону или лично) об этом на предприятие механику в дневное время, в ночное механику контрольно-технического пункта. По возвращении с линии участник ДТП обязан представить письменное объяснение и справку о ДТП механику. В случае поломки на линии в дневное время сообщить механику, в ночное время сообщить механику контрольно-технического пункта и принять меры к устранению неисправности.

Машинист экскаватора должен знать: - назначение, устройство, принцип действия, работу и обслуживание агрегатов, механизмов и приборов экскаватора, их неисправности, правила безопасности движения, правила технической эксплуатации экскаватора, периодичность и основные правила выполнения работ по техническому обслуживанию; - марки и нормы расхода горючих и смазочных материалов; - причины возникновения неисправностей и способы их устранения; - системы смазки, питания и охлаждения двигателей внутреннего сгорания.
