осуществляет проверку дефектных средств в месте соблюдения технического контроля рельсов и элементов стрелочного перевода операторов дефектов в пути и выполнение заданного объема контроля, на своем участке согласно утвержденным графикам и ежедневных заданий по вторичному контролю. детально изучает устройство и состояние пути, стрелочных переводов, искусственных сооружений, путевых обустройств в пределах вверенного участка, их конструктивные особенности и поведение под поездной нагрузкой. Изучает причины появляющихся расстройств и принимает меры по своевременному устранению неисправностей и предупреждению их появления; строго соблюдает периодичность и порядок проверок пути и сооружений согласно графику промеров, осматривая их при проходе пешком, проездах на локомотивах или площадках хвостового вагона, при сопровождении путеизмерительных вагонов и дефектоскопных тележек. Осуществляет контроль за своевременными и качественными промерами пути бригадирами пути. На основании проведенных осмотров, данных прохода путеизмерительных вагонов составляет планы работ и дает производственные задания подчиненным ему бригадирам пути и монтерам пути по устранению выявленных неисправностей и отступлений; организует осмотры пути опытными монтерами пути, дополнительные осмотры в период неблагоприятных метеорологических условий (при температуре более +25 и ниже 25 градусов, в период паводка, затяжных дождей и т.д.); организует устранение первоочередных неисправностей, угрожающих безопасности движения поездов: замена остродефектных рельсов, элементов стрелочных переводов, устранение неисправностей в пути 3, 4 степени, сочетаний неисправностей пути, сверхнормативных стыковых зазоров, провесов и отбоев рельсов, кустов негодных шпал, поврежденных элементов изолирующих стыков, отступлений от норм и правил содержания стрелочных переводов.
