Главные обязанности концертмейстера по классическому танцу в школе искусств: Репертуарный подбор музыкальных произведений для занятий, постоянное расширение музыкального багажа и знаний о природе танца, его характерных особенностей. Изучение опыта работы по эстетическому воспитанию детей в хореографических коллективах, в частности, по музыкальному развитию. Знакомство с новыми методиками движения под музыку . Умение ориентироваться в нотном материале . Во время занятия хореограф может в любой момент остановить выполнение движения или комбинации и начать отрабатывать какой-либо кусок упражнения отдельно. Концертмейстер должен знать, с какого места проигрывать отрывок для отработки того или иного движения. Умение импровизировать музыкальные вставки, вступления и заключения (для моментов выхода, перестройки танцевальной группы).

Некоторые требования к концертмейстеру по классическому танцу в школе искусств: Умение читать с листа . Необходимо быстро ориентироваться в нотном тексте, представлять характер и настроение музыки, определять основную тональность и темп. Знание основ хореографии . Это поможет верно организовать музыкальное сопровождение танцорам. Осведомлённость об основных движениях классического балета . Важно чётко представлять структуру упражнения, правильно делать акцент, динамическими оттенками помогать движению. Умение одновременно играть и видеть танцующих . Также нужно уметь вести за собой целый ансамбль танцоров. Умение импровизировать . Необходимо подбирать вступления, отыгрыши, заключения, необходимые в учебном процессе. Умение на ходу подобрать мелодию и аккомпанемент . Ещё нужно уметь играть простейшие стилизации на темы известных композиторов, без подготовки фактурно разрабатывать заданную тему, подбирать по слуху гармонии к заданной теме в простой фактуре. Знание истории музыкальной культуры . Это поможет верно отразить стиль и образный строй произведений. Личностные качества коммуникабельность, дисциплинированность. Кроме того, концертмейстер должен свободно владеть хореографической терминологией, знать строение урока и основные методические принципы.
