Обеспечивает немедленный выезд бригады скорой медицинской помощи после получения вызова и прибытие ее на место происшествия в пределах установленного временного норматива. Организует работу врачебной общепрофильной выездной бригады скорой медицинской помощи. Оказывает скорую медицинскую помощь вне медицинской организации (в составе врачебной общепрофильной выездной бригады скорой медицинской помощи), включая осуществление мероприятий, способствующих стабилизации или улучшению клинического состояния пациента, с учетом диагноза, возраста и клинической картины в соответствии с действующим порядком оказания медицинской помощи, клиническими рекомендациями (протоколами лечения) по вопросам оказания медицинской помощи, с учетом стандартов медицинской помощи.

Врач СМП должен знать: организацию оказания и особенности работы службы скорой медицинской помощи при чрезвычайных ситуациях; основы взаимодействия со службами гражданской обороны, медицины катастроф и МЧС России; вопросы организации санитарно-противоэпидемических (профилактических) мероприятий в целях предупреждения возникновения и распространения инфекционных заболеваний; показания к вызову специализированных бригад скорой медицинской помощи; порядок оказания скорой, в том числе скорой специализированной, медицинской помощи; стандарты скорой медицинской помощи; клинические рекомендации (протоколы лечения) по вопросам оказания скорой медицинской помощи вне медицинской организации;
