Помогать врачу оформлять документацию, связанную со вскрытием трупа. Готовить необходимые фиксаторы. По ходу вскрытия или непосредственно после его окончания фиксировать и окрашивать мазки и отпечатки для бактериоскопии. Помогать врачу в процессе взятия материала для бактериологического, вирусологического, биохимического и других исследований, оформлять направления и отправку материала в соответствующие лаборатории. Следить за фиксацией взятого для микроскопии секционного материала. Участвовать вместе с врачом в вырезке фиксированного материала, маркировать и сортировать вырезанные кусочки, регистрировать в рабочей тетради количество кусочков с указанием органов и тканей, количество срезов, методы их окраски. Производить заливку вырезанных кусочков в парафин, целлоидин, желатину и другие среды. Осуществлять резку материала на микротомах всех видов. Под непосредственным руководством врача-патологоанатома приготавливать музейные макропрепараты (готовить фиксирующие смеси, осуществлять фиксацию, восстановление окраски, монтаж препарата и заключение его в среду).

Выполнение лабораторных исследований, измерений и других видов работ под руководством врача. Подготовка аппаратуры, реактивов, химической посуды, красящих и дезинфицирующих растворов, питательных сред для проведения исследований. Приём и регистрация биологического материала, поступившего на исследование, проверка соответствия его упаковки и времени доставки необходимым требованиям. Проверка пригодности поступившего для исследования материала. Стерилизация лабораторного инструмента и посуды. Контроль правильности составления и оформления сопроводительной документации. Передача результатов исследований врачу. Выполнение инструкций по технике безопасности и производственной санитарии, противопожарной безопасности, режиму работы с возбудителями 1 4 групп патогенности, деятельности медицинского учреждения в экстремальных условиях.
