Разработка и актуализация документации. Специалист создаёт и обновляет инструкции, положения, приказы и другие локальные документы, опираясь на актуальное законодательство. Контроль соблюдения норм. Он следит, чтобы все сотрудники и руководство выполняли требования охраны труда. Организация обучения и инструктажей. Специалист выявляет потребность в обучении (в том числе по оказанию первой помощи), контролирует проведение вводных и рабочих инструктажей, стажировок, а также периодического обучения работников. Участие в расследовании инцидентов. Он помогает собирать материалы при несчастных случаях на производстве, направляет их в нужные инстанции, а также координирует разработку мер, чтобы предотвратить повторение подобных ситуаций. Оценка профессиональных рисков. Специалист анализирует условия на рабочих местах, выявляет опасности и помогает внедрять меры по их снижению. Организация специальных оценок. В том числе он курирует проведение специальной оценки условий труда (СОУТ). Контроль за средствами защиты. Специалист следит за обеспечением работников средствами индивидуальной защиты (СИЗ) и средствами коллективной защиты (СКЗ), проверяет их состояние и исправность. Информирование сотрудников. Он разъясняет работникам условия труда, существующие риски, положенные компенсации, меры защиты, а также правила использования СИЗ. Методическая поддержка. Специалист помогает руководителям структурных подразделений разрабатывать программы обучения, инструктажей и инструкции по охране труда

Образование и обучение. Возможны варианты: профильное высшее образование (бакалавриат), непрофильное высшее плюс программа профессиональной переподготовки в области охраны труда, либо среднее профессиональное образование плюс дополнительное профессиональное образование (переподготовка) в сфере охраны труда. Особые условия допуска. Обязательно нужно пройти обучение по охране труда и регулярно подтверждать знания не реже одного раза в три года. Справка о несудимости.
