выезжать на вызовы, диагностировать заболевания и оказывать доврачебную помощь пациенту; собирать и записывать информацию о болезнях, травмах, отравлениях и других состояниях, послуживших поводом для вызова скорой помощи; определять, какие медицинские манипуляции проводить и в каком объеме; принимать решение о том, отправить ли пациента в больницу или оставить дома; организовывать транспортировку больного или пострадавшего на носилках в машину скорой помощи, следить за его состоянием по дороге в больницу, продолжая оказывать помощь или проводить реанимационные мероприятия; принимать роды и проводить первичную обработку новорожденного, если женщина начала рожать прямо в машине скорой помощи; вести медицинскую документацию; отвечать за учет и хранение медикаментов; руководить работой бригады при отсутствии врача и отвечать за действия медперсонала; соблюдать врачебную тайну (не разглашать информацию о пациентах).

Обязан знать: правовые и нормативные акты, касающиеся области здравоохранения; правила трудового распорядка организации, в которой он работает, охраны труда и пожарной безопасности; основы фельдшерского дела, а также медицины катастроф и хирургии в военно-полевых условиях; правила асептики и антисептики; принципы медицинской этики. Должен уметь: осматривать больных и пострадавших, определять тяжесть их состояния, ставить первичный диагноз; выявлять причины травм и заболеваний, подбирать и назначать медикаменты; разбираться в результатах анализов; пользоваться медицинским оборудованием (измерять давление, сатурацию, уровень глюкозы, при необходимости делать и расшифровывать кардиограмму); осуществлять реанимационные мероприятия при остановке сердца, дыхания, анафилактическом шоке и других угрожающих жизни состояниях (непрямой массаж сердца, экстренное введение необходимых медикаментов, интубацию трахеи и т. д.); проводить первую медпомощь при получении травм, обморожений, утоплениях, инфарктах, инсультах и т. д.; делать внутривенные и внутримышечные инъекции, ставить капельницы, проводить различные физиотерапевтические процедуры; правильно транспортировать больного или пострадавшего, чтобы не навредить ему и не усугубить состояние; принимать неосложненные роды; успокаивать пациента или его родственников, оказывать психологическую помощь; определять, нужна ли госпитализация, и решать, в какое отделение больницы необходимо направить больного.
