Подготовка кабинета и организация приёма. Выполнение лечебно-диагностических назначений врача: Своевременно и качественно выполнять профилактические и лечебно-диагностические процедуры, назначенные врачом-гастроэнтерологом: внутривенные, внутримышечные и подкожные инъекции, внутривенные инфузии (гепатопротекторы, другие препараты), раздача таблетированных лекарственных средств. Проведение процедур по назначению врача: промывание желудка, постановка очистительных и сифонных клизм, постановка газоотводных трубок, наложение компрессов, применение грелки и пузыря со льдом. Подготавливать пациентов к проведению лабораторных и инструментальных исследований (ФГДС, колоноскопия, УЗИ органов брюшной полости, рентгеноскопия желудка и кишечника, биопсия), объяснять способы и порядок подготовки. При необходимости помогать больным подготовиться к осмотру врача. Ассистировать врачу-гастроэнтерологу при проведении осмотров и лечебно-диагностических манипуляций. Забор биологического материала для лабораторных исследований по назначению врача. Диспансерный учёт и ведение документации. Обеспечение кабинета и контроль запасов. Санитарно-эпидемиологический режим и инфекционная безопасность. Санитарно-просветительная работа и обучение пациентов. Оказание неотложной помощи и дополнительные обязанности.

Внимательность, аккуратность, ответственность точность при выполнении манипуляций и работе с биологическим материалом критически важна. Стрессоустойчивость работа с большим потоком пациентов (в гастроэнтерологии нагрузка может превышать другие профильные кабинеты), взаимодействие с пациентами в тревожном состоянии. Доброжелательность, умение доступно объяснять порядок процедур, правила подготовки к исследованиям и принципы диетического питания. Соблюдение медицинской этики и деонтологии, врачебной тайны, конфиденциальности. Соблюдение правил охраны труда, техники безопасности и пожарной безопасности.
