Приём и оценка пациента. Сбор жалоб, анамнеза (болезни и жизни), проведение физикального обследования (осмотр, пальпация, перкуссия, аускультация). На этом этапе врач оценивает тяжесть состояния, формулирует предварительный диагноз и решает, действительно ли пациенту показано лечение именно в формате дневного стационара. Планирование диагностики. Если нужны дополнительные данные для уточнения диагноза, врач обосновывает и назначает лабораторные или инструментальные исследования (анализы, ЭКГ, УЗИ и т.п.), а затем интерпретирует результаты. При необходимости направляет пациента к узкому специалисту. Разработка и реализация плана лечения. С учётом диагноза, клинической картины, возраста и факторов риска врач составляет индивидуальный план. Он включает назначение медикаментозной терапии, немедикаментозных методов (лечебное питание, физиопроцедуры). Врач проводит лечебные манипуляции, которые предусмотрены стандартами и клиническими рекомендациями. При этом он регулярно оценивает эффективность и безопасность лечения и при необходимости корректирует план. Контроль в процессе лечения. Поскольку пациент посещает стационар курсами, врач проводит ежедневные или периодические осмотры, чтобы отслеживать динамику и вовремя вносить правки в тактику. Работа с осложнениями. Если в процессе лечения состояние пациента ухудшается, врач определяет показания для перевода в круглосуточный стационар или вызова скорой помощи. Экспертиза временной нетрудоспособности. Врач проводит оценку, оформляет листки нетрудоспособности и при необходимости направляет пациента на врачебную комиссию или медико-социальную экспертизу. Профилактическая и просветительская работа. Врач обучает пациента: объясняет суть заболевания, правила приёма лекарств, даёт рекомендации по образу жизни, чтобы снизить риск обострений. Ведение медицинской документации. Это важная часть работы: заполнение медицинской карты стационарного больного, листа врачебных назначений, оформление информированного добровольного согласия, статистической карты выбывшего и другой отчётности (в том числе в электронном виде). Взаимодействие с другими специалистами. Врач координирует работу с участковыми терапевтами, узкими специалистами, средним медицинским персоналом отделения, а при необходимости с социальными службами.

Навыки работы с конкретным оборудованием или материалами, используемым в отделении. Опыт проведения конкретных процедур, характерных для дневного стационара. Умение эффективно выстраивать коммуникацию с пациентами: объяснять план лечения, давать понятные рекомендации по образу жизни. Стремление к постоянному профессиональному развитию: участие в конференциях, прохождение курсов повышения квалификации.
