2.1 Осуществляет подготовку оборудования к работе. 2.2 Осуществляет ввод параметров набора, ввод графических элементов. 2.3. Осуществляет верстку текста, содержащего различные шрифтовые и нешрифтовые выделения, шрифты различных гарнитур и алфавитов, специальную терминологию и специальные знаки в соответствии с принятыми в полиграфической и издательской деятельности стандартами. 2.4. Верстает таблицы, создает графические элементы различной степени сложности, осуществляет их ввод, осуществляет макетирование технического оформления сложных изданий, сложных по построению полос (таблиц, рисунков, фотографий и пр.). 2.5. Распечатывает текст на принтере. 2.6. Вносит правку в текст на основании замечаний технического редактора. 2.7. Осуществляет запись файлов на внешние носители информации. 2.8. Использует в работе компьютерную сеть.

Инженер по верстке должен знать: 4.1. Основы и технологию полиграфического производства, 4.2. Принципы действия основного и вспомогательного оборудования и приемы работы на нем. 4.3. Технические правила разметки оригиналов, элементы дизайна. 4.4. Технические правила и приемы набора, правки и верстки. 4.5. Типографскую систему измерения, корректурные знаки и гарнитуры шрифтов. 4.6. Компьютерную терминологию. 4.7. Применяемое программное обеспечение для набора и верстки текста. 4.8. Способы получения корректурных копий на принтерах, информации из баз данных и вывода информации по сети и на внешние носители. 4.9. Правила подготовки оригинал-макетов. 4.10. Стандарты, технические условия, инструкции и другие нормативные документы по подготовке и выпуску газеты, печатных изданий. 4.11 Основы трудового законодательства. 4.12. Правила и нормы охраны труда, техники безопасности, производственной санитарии и противопожарной защиты.
