Подчинение начальнику конвоя и выполнение его указаний. Кинолог действует в рамках распоряжений руководства подразделения. Проведение обыска конвоируемых и досмотр их вещей по указанию начальника конвоя. При обнаружении запрещённых предметов кинолог изымает их и передаёт начальнику. Пресечение опасных и недозволенных действий подозреваемых и обвиняемых. Это часть мер по обеспечению безопасности в процессе конвоирования. Участие в поиске опасных предметов и взрывчатых веществ. Кинолог может задействовать собаку для обнаружения запрещённых веществ или улик. Профилактика чрезвычайных ситуаций. В обязанности входит поддержание порядка и безопасности в зоне ответственности. Охрана общественного порядка. Кинолог обеспечивает безопасность отдельных граждан и групп гражданских лиц в районе несения службы. При срочном вызове переход на режим круглосуточной готовности. Специалист должен быть готов оперативно реагировать на экстренные ситуации. Уход за служебной собакой. Кинолог обеспечивает полноценный уход: подбирает сбалансированное питание, следит за регулярным выгулом, проводит тренировки, контролирует физическое и психическое состояние животного. При необходимости корректирует поведение собаки. Обучение и тренировка собаки. Специалист разрабатывает и проводит занятия, обучая животное командам, дисциплине и специфическим навыкам, необходимым для выполнения служебных задач (поиск людей, обнаружение запрещённых веществ, задержание преступников и т. д.). Ведение отчётности. Кинолог фиксирует результаты дрессировки, служебных операций и других мероприятий. Дополнительные аспекты: Кинолог, как и другие сотрудники полиции, имеет право проверять документы, проводить личный досмотр лиц, подозреваемых в преступлениях, требовать прекращения незаконных действий. Специалист несёт материальную ответственность за служебную собаку, если она погибает из-за халатного отношения или неправильного ухода, он обязан возместить ущерб.
