Подготовить рабочее место к амбулаторному приему, раскладывать в установленных местах бланки, медицинский инструментарий, аппаратуру. Оказывать больным при отсутствии участкового врача доврачебную медицинскую помощь (при кровотечениях, падении сердечной деятельности, обмороках и т.д.). Заполнять под руководством участкового фтизиатра действующую медицинскую документацию (направления, справки, больничные листы, выписки из истории болезни и установленные статистические формы), экстренное извещение, дневник работы, тетрадь учета работы на дому. Вызывать на прием больных, сопровождать больных по лечебному учреждению, в диагностические кабинеты по указанию врача. Составлять перспективные и текущие планы работы под руководством участкового фтизиатра и выполнять их в установленном порядке. Следить за своевременным получением результатов лабораторных и других исследований и расклеивать их в медицинских картах амбулаторных больных. Обеспечивать вызов и явку больных и контактных с больными на плановое обследование и лечение, согласно диагностическому минимуму участка. Обследовать вновь выявленные бациллярные очаги в течение трех дней с момента обнаружения микобактерий туберкулеза в мокроте. Посещать состоящие на диспансерном учете очаги туберкулезной инфекции, контролировать выполнение санитарно-гигиенического режима, проводить беседы с родственниками и соседями о профилактике заражения туберкулезом окружающих. Устанавливать совместно с медицинскими работниками флюорографической службы, общей медицинской сети и Роспотребнадзора, контроль над привлечением лиц, не охваченных флюорографией, туберкулинодиагностикой, антибактериальной терапией и т.д. Оказывать помощь участковому фтизиатру в сборе информации для анализа и обобщения опыта работы на участке. Принимать участие в составлении статистического отчета на участке за год.
