Продавец-кассир помогает покупателям с выбором товара, рассказывает о его характеристиках (состав, срок годности, свойства, производитель), акциях и программах лояльности. Пробивание товаров через кассовый аппарат, сканирование штрих-кодов, приём оплаты наличными и банковскими картами, выдача сдачи и чеков. Оформление возвратов и обменов в соответствии с установленными правилами. Решение спорных ситуаций с покупателями в отсутствие представителей администрации.Контроль наличия товаров в торговом зале и своевременное пополнение запасов.Выкладка товаров с учётом частоты спроса и принципов мерчандайзинга. Приём, учёт, выдача и хранение денежных средств с соблюдением правил их сохранности. Сверка фактического наличия денег с данными кассовых документов. Ведение кассовой книги и составление кассовой отчётности. Составление описей ветхих банкнот для их последующей передачи в банк. Передача денежных средств инкассаторам в установленном порядке. Участие в инвентаризациях товарно-материальных ценностей и денежных средств.

Ассортимент и характеристики товаров. Нужно знать, что есть в магазине: моющие средства, бытовая химия, инструменты, посуда, товары для сада и хранения. Важно понимать назначение каждого товара, его свойства, правила безопасного использования (особенно актуально для химии и острых предметов). Маркировка и документация. Умение читать артикулы, понимать, что означают штрихкоды и другие обозначения на упаковке. Нормативная база. Знание законов (например, О защите прав потребителей ), правил торговли, стандартов безопасности, правил обмена и возврата товаров. Работа с кассовым оборудованием. Умение работать с ККТ, POS-терминалами, сканерами штрихкодов, проверять подлинность банкнот. Основы товароучёта. Умение контролировать остатки, участвовать в инвентаризациях, знать правила списания товаров. Правила выкладки и хранения. Принципы мерчандайзинга, ротация товара (чтобы быстрее продавались средства с истекающим сроком), соблюдение условий хранения (для химии, хрупкой посуды).
