Подготавливать помещение и инвентарь. Проверять состояние залов, подбирать и раскладывать гимнастические предметы, снаряды, тренажёры, контролировать условия (освещение, температуру, вентиляцию). Проводить занятия. Организовывать и вести индивидуальные или групповые занятия лечебной и гигиенической гимнастикой. Также работать в бассейне или на механотерапевтических аппаратах. Демонстрировать упражнения и страховать. Показывать, как правильно выполнять движения, и подстраховывать пациента, чтобы исключить травмы. Контролировать состояние пациента. Оценивать самочувствие человека до занятия и после него, следить за правильностью выполнения упражнений и тем, как организм переносит нагрузку. При необходимости корректировать интенсивность. Разрабатывать комплексы вместе с врачом. Совместно со специалистом по ЛФК подбирать схемы гимнастики и комплексы упражнений, опираясь на современные методики восстановления и реабилитации. Выполнять дополнительные задачи по назначению. Например, проводить отдельные виды лечебного массажа, если это прописано в назначении врача. Проводить функциональные пробы. Оценивать физическое развитие, работоспособность, состояние дыхательной, сердечно-сосудистой и нервно-мышечной систем во время занятий. Давать рекомендации. Давать советы по самостоятельным занятиям: как выполнять упражнения дома, какие есть варианты активности (плавание, терренкур, спортивные игры). Вести документацию. Заполнять учётные формы: регистрировать пациентов, фиксировать проведённые занятия и исследования, отмечать динамику изменений в состоянии. Соблюдать правила безопасности и гигиены. Следить за соблюдением санитарно-гигиенических норм, требований охраны труда, техники безопасности при работе с оборудованием, а также правил инфекционной безопасности. Оказывать доврачебную помощь. При неотложных состояниях уметь распознать угрозу жизни и провести необходимые мероприятия до прибытия врача. Проводить санитарно-просветительскую работу. Информировать пациентов о пользе ЛФК, объяснять, как правильно организовать самостоятельные занятия

Среднее профессиональное образование (СПО) по одной из специальностей: Сестринское дело, Лечебное дело, Акушерское дело . Дополнительное профессиональное образование программы профессиональной переподготовки по специальности Лечебная физкультура . Аккредитация специалиста по специальности Лечебная физкультура . С 2023 года для специалистов с немедицинским образованием (например, в области физической культуры) обязательна периодическая аккредитация. Для работы инструктором-методистом по ЛФК требуется: Высшее образование по направлениям Физическая культура, Физическая культура для лиц с отклонениями в состоянии здоровья (адаптивная физическая культура) . Дополнительная подготовка по лечебной физкультуре и спортивной медицине.
