Организация и планирование строительных работ. Прораб распределяет производственные задания между мастерами, бригадами и отдельными работниками, а также подрядными организациями. Он разрабатывает и корректирует оперативные планы производства, определяет виды и объёмы работ с учётом имеющихся ресурсов. Контроль качества. Прораб проверяет соответствие выполняемых работ проектной документации, нормативным техническим документам, техническим условиям, технологическим картам. Он осуществляет операционный контроль качества, выявляет дефекты и принимает меры по их устранению. Материально-техническое обеспечение. Прораб составляет заявки на поставку стройматериалов, проверяет их количество и качество при приёмке, ведёт учёт расхода. При нехватке материалов он решает, как оперативно восполнить запасы. Соблюдение техники безопасности и охраны труда. Прораб контролирует соблюдение правил охраны труда, пожарной безопасности и охраны окружающей среды. Он проводит инструктажи работников, проверяет наличие средств индивидуальной защиты, следит за исправностью инструментов и механизмов. Ведение документации. Прораб оформляет и ведёт исполнительную и учётную документацию (журналы производства работ, табели учёта рабочего времени, акты выполненных работ), а также документы, включаемые в информационную модель объекта капитального строительства (при её наличии). Координация подготовительных работ. Прораб организует и контролирует выполнение подготовительных работ на участке производства, готовит рабочие места к проведению специальной оценки условий труда, оформляет необходимые допуски к производству работ. Взаимодействие с заказчиком и контролирующими органами. На крупных объектах прораб может участвовать в совещаниях с представителями заказчика, технадзора и авторского надзора, предоставлять отчёты о ходе работ, согласовывать изменения в проекте, подписывать акты скрытых работ. Организация приобъектного складского хозяйства и охрана материальных ценностей
