Осуществляет уход и наблюдение за пациентами в соответствии с профилем отделения на основе принципов медицинской деонтологии. Проводит санитарно-просветительную работу среди родильниц, их родственников и населения, консультирует по вопросам здорового образа жизни, питания, грудного вскармливания. Проводит подготовительную работу для лечебно-диагностической деятельности врача и собственной деятельности. Обучает родителей уходу за новорожденными, выполнению санитарно-эпидемиологических требований при уходе за новорожденными. Осуществляет лечебно-диагностическую помощь пациентам по назначению врача или совместно с ним в отделении. Организует своевременное обследование пациентов по назначению врача. Проводит качественную и своевременную подготовку пациентов к различного рода исследованиям, процедурам. Оказывает доврачебную помощь при неотложных состояниях, организует правильную транспортировку. Осуществляет контроль за выполнением родильницами рекомендаций и назначений врача. Своевременно и качественно выполняет профилактические и лечебно-диагностические процедуры, назначенные врачом. Осуществляет: сестринский уход за новорожденными, в том числе в палатах интенсивной терапии; прием новорожденных в отделение; сбор материала для лабораторных исследований; выборку из историй болезней назначений врача; введение лекарственных средств в соответствии с установленным порядком действий и проведение лечебных манипуляций в соответствии с регламентацией видов деятельности медсестры; Сообщает врачу-неонатологу или заведующему отделением, а в их отсутствие дежурному врачу, обо всех обнаруженных осложнениях и заболеваниях новорожденных, осложнениях, возникших в результате проведения медицинских манипуляций. Участвует в обходе врачей в отделении. Докладывает о состоянии пациентов, записывает назначения лечения, следит за их выполнением.
