Под руководством ответственного исполнителя проводит научные исследования и разработки по отдельным разделам (этапам, заданиям) темы в соответствии с утвержденными методиками и планом выполнения государственного задания: - выполнение научно-исследовательских работ, направленных на разработку и внедрение научных методов сохранения биологического разнообразия и поддержание в естественном состоянии природных комплексов и объектов, а также на оценку и прогноз экологической обстановки в регионе; - выполнение работ в области экологического мониторинга. Организует и проводит самостоятельно отдельные полевые и лабораторные научные исследования, наблюдения, анализ полученных результатов. Составляет текущие и окончательные научные отчеты, либо готовит отдельные их разделы для сотрудника - ответственного исполнителя темы. Публикует результаты своих исследований. Обеспечивает оформление, систематизацию и хранение первичных научных данных в традиционном и электронном виде. Принимает участие по поручению руководства заповедника в проведении совместных работ со сторонними научными учреждениями и организациями по профилю своей специальности. Осуществляет контроль за качеством ведения наблюдений инспекторами и оформлением ими научной документации. Изучает научно-техническую информацию, отечественный и зарубежный опыт по исследуемой тематике. Участвует во внедрении результатов исследований и разработок.

На должность научного сотрудника назначается лицо, имеющее высшее профессиональное образование и опыт работы по специальности не менее 3 лет. При наличии ученой степени, окончания аспирантуры и прохождении стажировки - без предъявления требований к стажу работы. При наличии рекомендаций советов высших учебных заведений (факультетов) на должность младшего научного сотрудника могут быть назначены в порядке исключения выпускники высших учебных заведений, получившие опыт работы в период обучения.
