Обеспечивать поддержку взаимодействия руководителя с представителями органов исполнительной власти и руководителями организаций, его телефонных переговоров. Координировать график заседаний и представительств руководителя на совещаниях, конференциях и семинарах с учётом его полномочий. В пределах предоставленных полномочий координировать работу структурных подразделений образовательного учреждения, руководить подчинёнными исполнителями. Вести деловую переписку с организациями. Получать необходимые сведения для руководителя от структурных подразделений образовательного учреждения, вызывать на приём работников по его поручению. Принимать и передавать телефонограммы, записывать сообщения и доводить их до сведения адресатов. Осуществлять работу по подготовке заседаний и совещаний, проводимых руководителем. Вести делопроизводство: принимать корреспонденцию, поступающую на имя руководителя, систематизировать её и докладываться ему о результатах выполнения принятых решений. Передавать документы в структурные подразделения образовательного учреждения конкретным исполнителям для использования их в работе либо исполнения и подготовки ответа и предложений по их реализации, осуществлять контроль за сроками исполнения поручений. Организовывать приём посетителей, содействовать оперативному рассмотрению их предложений и просьб. В пределах предоставленных прав представлять руководителя в иных организациях.

На должность помощника ректора назначается лицо с высшим профессиональным образованием и стажем работы по направлению профессиональной деятельности в образовательной организации или медицинской не менее 3 лет. Помощник ректора должен знать законы и иные нормативные правовые акты Российской Федерации по вопросам образования и воспитания, приоритетные направления развития образовательной системы РФ, основы гражданского, административного, трудового, бюджетного, хозяйственного законодательства и другие.
