Вместе с врачом формирует врачебный участок из прикреплённого населения, ведёт персональный учёт и информационную (часто компьютерную) базу данных о состоянии здоровья жителей участка. Участвует в формировании групп диспансерных больных. Организует амбулаторный приём врача: готовит рабочее место (карты, бланки рецептов и направлений, инструменты, приборы). Регулирует поток пациентов на приёме. Проводит доврачебные осмотры (измерение давления, температуры, пульса, антропометрические измерения) и фиксирует результаты в медицинской карте. Выполняет по назначению врача лечебные и диагностические манипуляции: инъекции, перевязки, забор биоматериала для анализов. Оказывает неотложную доврачебную помощь при острых заболеваниях, травмах, отравлениях в поликлинике, дневном стационаре или на дому. Организует диагностику и лечение в разных форматах: амбулаторно, в дневном стационаре, на дому. Готовит пациентов к лабораторным и инструментальным исследованиям, объясняет, как к ним подготовиться. Проводит мероприятия по санитарно-гигиеническому воспитанию населения, консультирует по вопросам здорового образа жизни. Участвует в организации и проведении профилактических осмотров и диспансеризации: организует анкетирование, направляет на дополнительные исследования. Формирует прививочный план, вызывает пациентов на вакцинацию, ведёт прививочную документацию. Организует занятия в школах здоровья (например, по управлению хроническими заболеваниями гипертония, диабет). Изучает потребности населения в оздоровительных мероприятиях и разрабатывает программы таких мероприятий. Осуществляет диспансерное наблюдение: контролирует посещения, своевременно приглашает пациентов на плановые приёмы. Проводит активные посещения на дому: навещает маломобильных, тяжелобольных, пожилых людей. При этом оценивает условия жизни пациента, при необходимости передаёт информацию врачу и в социальные службы. Обучает родственников тяжелобольных методам ухода и оказания первичной доврачебной помощи. Ведёт медицинскую документацию: амбулаторные карты, карты диспансерного наблюдения, статистические талоны, санаторно-курортные карты, справки. Работает в медицинской информационной системе (МИС/ЕМИАС): вносит данные о приёмах, назначениях, результатах исследований. Оформляет направления к специалистам, документы для экспертизы временной нетрудоспособности, для направления на медико-социальную экспертизу, заключения о необходимости санаторно-курортного лечения. Руководит деятельностью младшего медицинского персонала. Обеспечивает врача необходимыми медикаментами, стерильными инструментами, спецодеждой. Соблюдает правила асептики и антисептики, условия стерилизации инструментов и материалов. Принимает меры для предупреждения постинъекционных осложнений, распространения инфекций (гепатита, ВИЧ). Осуществляет сбор и утилизацию медицинских отходов.
