Главной обязанностью секретаря судебного заседания является ведение протокола судебного заседания и оформление его в трехдневный срок. Исходя из задач аппарата мирового судьи, секретарь судебного заседания выполняет следующие функции: обеспечивает прием граждан мировым судьей; обеспечивает подготовку запросов, писем, выписок, повесток, вызов участников процесса и свидетелей; составляет и вывешивает списки дел, назначенных к рассмотрению в судебном заседании; осуществляет проверку уведомлений об извещении участников процесса, поручение копий обвинительного заключения; осуществляет проверку явки лиц, вызванных в судебное заседание, и отмечает в повестках время их нахождения в суде; оформляет документы на оплату проезда вызванным свидетелям и потерпевшим; знакомит участников процесса по их ходатайствам с протоколом судебного заседания; оформляет гражданские, уголовные и административные дела после их рассмотрения; отмечает в журнале учета дел, назначенных к рассмотрению в судебном заседании, результаты их рассмотрения; изготавливает копии судебных документов по рассмотренному делу; оформляет исполнительные листы и передает их по принадлежности; оформляет материалы, связанные с исполнением приговора; оформляет материалы в порядке выполнения отдельного судебного поручения; вносит необходимые данные в специальное программное обеспечение АМИРС; извещает участников гражданского, административного и уголовного судопроизводства о месте, дате и времени рассмотрения дела в суде, в том числе посредством СМС-сообщений; поддерживает уровень квалификации, достаточный для исполнения своих должностных обязанностей; соблюдает ограничения и запреты, связанные с гражданской службой, а также требования к служебному поведению гражданских служащих, установленные федеральным законодательством.

Высшее юридическое образование, не ниже уровня бакалавриат. Ответственность, стремление к профессиональному росту, опыт работы приветствуется
