В обязанности входит мониторинг систем, поиск и ликвидация сбоев, доработка программ под меняющиеся задачи. Работа с базами данных. Техник-программист настраивает базы, вносит изменения в их структуру (по согласованию с руководителем), организует резервное копирование. Администрирование и инфраструктура. Сюда относится установка и настройка ПО и оборудования, обновление конфигураций, управление учётными записями (распределение прав доступа, выдача паролей), ведение журналов состояния систем. Техническая документация. Специалист составляет инструкции для пользователей, схемы технологических процессов, комментарии к коду то, что нужно для дальнейшего обслуживания. Помощь пользователям. Часто техник-программист выступает первым звеном поддержки: консультирует сотрудников по работе с системами, помогает решать типовые проблемы. Интеграция. Он настраивает обмен данными между разными системами или сервисами. Документирование и отчётность. Ведёт учёт использования машинного времени, фиксирует выполненные задачи, готовит отчёты по инцидентам. Участие в проектах. В рамках проектов техник-программист может выполнять отдельные задачи: например, переносить данные между системами, участвовать в пуско-наладочных работах.
