This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Advisor, International Sustainability based in the United States.
This role leads the strategic design and commercial scaling of sustainability programs across international markets. You’ll help develop credible carbon programs and sustainability assets that support measurable Scope 3 outcomes. The position combines carbon-market expertise, technical program design, commercialization, and stakeholder engagement. You’ll work across global and regional teams to adapt sustainability solutions to local production systems and producer needs. The role also provides opportunities to influence technology development, measurement frameworks, partnerships, and industry standards. You’ll collaborate with commercial, technical, operational, legal, and sustainability stakeholders in a highly cross-functional environment. The position offers global exposure, with travel of up to 30% and a focus on livestock sustainability across multiple markets.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the end-to-end design and development of new carbon programs and the evolution of existing sustainability programs across international markets.
- Create program design documentation and guide Measurement, Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MMRV) and operational requirements.
- Partner with program design, commercial, technical, and operations teams to align priorities and support efficient program development across markets including the US, Brazil, New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, and Canada.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert on relevant carbon-market standards, methodologies, and reporting frameworks, including the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Science Based Targets, Verra, Gold Standard, and emerging sustainability frameworks.
- Apply sustainability standards and carbon-accounting principles to program design while helping teams maintain credible and robust methodologies.
- Represent the organization in relevant global working groups and manage relationships with consulting partners to strengthen internal expertise.
- Manage program-level risks and contribute to the development of contracts and supporting documentation in collaboration with legal and operations teams.
- Oversee MMRV implementation for new sustainability assets in partnership with regional teams and operational stakeholders.
- Lead the localization and deployment of sustainability technology for international markets, ensuring data models reflect regional production systems and producer requirements.
- Represent international market needs in technology road-mapping and prioritization discussions.
- Partner with strategy teams to identify appropriate commercialization pathways for sustainability programs.
- Provide technical expertise to global and local food-chain and off-take partners and support buyer and CPG contracting when needed.
- Identify and manage relationships with third-party consultants, auditors, and technology partners.
- Contribute to industry thought leadership through panels, white papers, and other initiatives focused on livestock sustainability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Animal Biology, or a related field, with 3+ years of relevant experience; alternatively, a PhD with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in sustainability, agribusiness, marketing, or a related field within the animal health or livestock sector.
- Deep understanding of carbon markets and greenhouse gas accounting, particularly Scope 3 emissions.
- Demonstrated experience applying carbon-market methodologies and standards to project or program design, including voluntary carbon markets, consulting, or MMRV development.
- Strong understanding of dairy and feedlot/beef production systems, including experience engaging directly with producers.
- Knowledge of dairy and beef carbon-footprinting methodologies and approaches.
- Experience working with third-party validation and verification processes.
- Ability to translate complex sustainability concepts into practical programs, commercial opportunities, and clear recommendations for diverse stakeholders.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration, communication, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work strategically and independently while coordinating effectively across global and regional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to credibility, measurement, risk, and operational feasibility.
- English proficiency is required; Spanish and/or Portuguese proficiency is preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel globally up to 30% of the time.

- Base salary range of $113,100–$188,400, depending in part on qualifications, education, and experience.
