This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Associate Legal Counsel, Product & Privacy, Ads based in United States.

This role provides legal guidance across product development, privacy, consumer protection, and advertising matters within a fast-growing technology environment. You will serve as a key legal partner to Ads Product Managers, engineers, marketing teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders. The position focuses on helping teams navigate complex regulatory requirements while enabling responsible product innovation and business growth. You’ll advise throughout the product lifecycle, monitor evolving international regulations, and help shape practical risk management strategies. The role offers significant exposure to ad-tech products, including SSP and DSP platforms, as well as broader privacy and data protection matters. You’ll join a collaborative legal team where clear communication, sound judgment, and business-oriented legal advice are highly valued.

Accountabilities:

  • Advise advertising engineering and product teams on legal and regulatory considerations throughout the product development lifecycle, including SSP and DSP products and related services.
  • Provide legal guidance on privacy and data protection matters affecting ad-tech activities, including compliance with regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
  • Counsel teams on content regulation, advertising content policies, and enforcement practices to help ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Advise on marketing and commercial matters related to the B2B advertising business.
  • Serve as the primary legal point of contact for Ads Product Managers and Ad Sales teams on product, privacy, and advertising-related legal matters.
  • Monitor emerging international privacy, consumer protection, and technology regulations relevant to the ad-tech industry and translate developments into practical guidance.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Communications, Infrastructure, Privacy, and other teams to develop and implement effective risk management strategies.
  • Provide practical, business-focused legal advice that supports innovation while managing regulatory and compliance risks.
  • 5+ years of legal experience in product counseling and privacy counseling within the ad-tech industry is required.
  • Direct experience advising software product managers and engineers on legal, privacy, and regulatory matters.
  • Experience advising technology teams on consumer protection issues.
  • Strong understanding of privacy and data protection frameworks, including GDPR and CCPA.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one state bar.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal matters clearly to business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives and provide practical, actionable guidance.
  • CIPP/US certification is preferred.
  • Experience working with advertising technology products, platforms, or services is strongly relevant.
  • Base salary of $129,000–$190,000, depending on background, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location.
  • Total compensation includes equity in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
