This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Carbon Services, Embodied Carbon Analyst based in United States.
This role offers the opportunity to help leading organizations measure and reduce the embodied carbon impacts of buildings and real estate portfolios. You’ll apply life cycle assessment methodologies to new developments and tenant improvement projects, translating complex environmental data into practical recommendations. The position combines technical analysis, sustainability consulting, client communication, and research in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment. You’ll work across projects ranging from individual buildings to large-scale portfolios, helping teams make lower-carbon design and construction decisions. Your analysis will support sustainability certifications, climate strategies, and broader decarbonization goals. The role is ideal for an analytical and detail-oriented professional who enjoys solving complex problems and communicating insights to both technical and non-technical audiences. You’ll also have opportunities to stay at the forefront of embodied carbon practices, emerging technologies, standards, and climate policies.
Accountabilities
- Quantify embodied carbon and other environmental impacts associated with new development and tenant improvement projects, from individual buildings through global portfolios.
- Perform whole-building Life Cycle Assessments (wbLCA) and identify opportunities to reduce life-cycle impacts through improved design, materials, construction practices, and operational strategies.
- Review wbLCA calculations and results prepared by other team members, identify errors or inconsistencies, and help ensure accurate final outputs.
- Collect, organize, track, and analyze environmental data related to energy use, waste, construction materials, transportation, and other relevant impact categories.
- Develop reports, presentations, visualizations, and recommendations that clearly communicate environmental performance and improvement opportunities.
- Manage assigned work independently, maintaining agreed timelines, budgets, quality standards, and project outcomes.
- Participate in client communications, including project kickoffs, data requests, and presentations of final results.
- Support project managers with research into sustainable design approaches, low-carbon products, construction methods, operational strategies, technologies, and emerging best practices.
- Monitor developments in LCA methodologies, sustainability standards, industry practices, policies, and regulations through workshops, webinars, and ongoing professional development.
- Collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams while contributing to a culture focused on innovation, accountability, continuous improvement, and positive environmental impact.
- Passion for sustainability, climate action, decarbonization, and creating measurable environmental impact.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, structural engineering, construction management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least one year of full-time, hands-on experience applying LCA methodologies within the real estate or built-environment sector.
- Intermediate proficiency with OneClick LCA and some experience with additional embodied carbon tools such as EC3 and/or TallyCAT.
- Intermediate proficiency with Autodesk Revit and BIM 360 for material takeoffs.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to analyze, organize, and interpret large datasets, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and curiosity, with an ability to investigate complex datasets, classify results, and identify trends.
- Experience developing embodied carbon calculations that include Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) equipment is preferred.
- Experience documenting LCA work for LEED, ILFI, CAGBC Zero Carbon Building, or similar certification pursuits is preferred.
- LEED Accredited Professional certification is preferred.
- Experience developing whole-building LCA for data centers is preferred.
- Working knowledge of corporate greenhouse gas accounting and target-setting frameworks such as the GHG Protocol, SBTi, and WGBC Net Zero, as well as carbon offsets, is preferred.
- Previous consulting experience within an established organization, with exposure to team-based delivery, internal quality standards, and cross-project collaboration, is preferred.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and client-facing communication skills, with the ability to explain technical sustainability concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Compensation: $76,000–$85,000 USD annually, depending on market location and experience.
