The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Department Supervisor, Agent Licensing based in the United States.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operations professional to lead agent licensing activities within a dynamic insurance environment. As Department Supervisor, you will oversee daily operations, manage a team of licensing specialists, and ensure the accuracy and efficiency of agent appointments and licensing transactions across multiple insurance subsidiaries. You will play a key role in maintaining regulatory compliance, streamlining workflows, and supporting the operational needs of a growing insurance organization. Working closely with management, IT, sales, recruitment, and external regulatory stakeholders, you will help resolve complex issues and improve processes through automation and continuous improvement. The role combines people leadership, technical problem-solving, and operational oversight, giving you the opportunity to strengthen departmental performance and service quality. If you are detail-oriented, analytical, and passionate about developing teams while optimizing business processes, this remote position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Accountabilities

  • Oversee daily agent licensing operations, including staff assignments, workload distribution, productivity monitoring, and compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Lead, coach, and develop department employees through onboarding, training, performance evaluations, feedback, hiring recommendations, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Manage agent licensing and appointment transactions across multiple insurance subsidiaries, including new appointments, terminations, transfers, promotions, demotions, and reinstatements.
  • Monitor automated appointment processing systems, identify technical issues, troubleshoot errors, and collaborate with IT and technical support teams to ensure accurate and timely processing.
  • Oversee departmental reporting, data processing, and quality assurance activities, maintaining accurate records and ensuring operational deadlines are consistently met.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex licensing and operational issues, coordinating with management, IT, and relevant stakeholders to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Support system enhancements and automation initiatives by submitting programming requests, participating in user acceptance testing, coordinating implementations, and training employees on updated processes.
  • Conduct process reviews, operational audits, and data quality checks to identify discrepancies, implement corrective actions, and improve departmental productivity.
  • Develop, maintain, and update departmental procedures, training materials, and operational documentation to promote consistency, accuracy, and employee development.
  • Coordinate with sales teams, executives, recruiters, directors, agency owners, general agents, and state insurance departments to resolve licensing and appointment matters.
  • Prepare operational reports, communicate performance updates, and provide management with insights into departmental activities, workload trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Promote a collaborative and accountable working environment, ensuring employees have the guidance, tools, and resources needed to meet performance expectations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or a college degree is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience, with demonstrated ability to lead employees, delegate responsibilities, manage workloads, and support individual and team performance.
  • Experience in the insurance industry is preferred, particularly in agent licensing, agent appointments, or insurance administration.
  • Strong understanding of operational workflows, data processing, record management, and quality assurance, with the ability to maintain accuracy across high-volume transactions.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize competing requests, meet production deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to investigate discrepancies, interpret information, and develop practical solutions independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced spreadsheet functions, PivotTables, mail merges, and database queries.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Access, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and comparable business applications.
  • Ability to work with automated processing systems, identify workflow issues, and collaborate with technical teams on system improvements and troubleshooting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including excellent grammar, spelling, documentation, and reporting abilities.
  • Effective interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and communicate professionally with internal teams and external regulatory contacts.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and employee development skills, with a commitment to accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining productivity, responsiveness, and effective communication with colleagues.
  • Competitive compensation: A salary and compensation package designed to reflect relevant experience, expertise, and contributions. A specific salary range is not provided in the original posting.
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • Life insurance: Life insurance benefits designed to support employees and their families.
  • Retirement benefits: Retirement plans, including a pension plan.
  • Paid time off: Paid holidays and time off to support personal needs and work-life balance.
  • Parental leave: Leave benefits to support employees welcoming a new child.
  • Wellness benefits: Subsidized all-in-one subscriptions supporting fitness, mindfulness, nutrition, and sleep.
  • Mental health support: Company-paid counseling services for mental health, stress management, and work-life balance.
  • Professional development: Eligible continuing education reimbursement and company-paid FLMI and ICA courses to support career growth and insurance industry knowledge.
  • Employee discounts: Access to discounted Texas Rangers tickets.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
