The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Product Design based in United States.

This senior design leadership role will define the experience vision for a sophisticated enterprise data security platform serving expert security professionals. You will lead the product design team while remaining deeply engaged with the craft, ensuring complex workflows feel intuitive, coherent, and effective. A major focus will be designing the next generation of human-and-AI collaboration, including agent-assisted investigations, explainability, trust, and human control. You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Customer Experience, and executive leadership to shape product direction from the earliest stages. The role combines people leadership, UX research, design systems, product strategy, and hands-on design influence across a growing platform. You will establish measurable standards for usability and customer experience while guiding major initiatives such as platform migration and product consolidation. This is an opportunity to shape how security professionals and AI agents work together in a high-impact, fast-moving product environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Own the end-to-end product design experience across the platform, ensuring a cohesive experience across its major security capabilities and workflows.
  • Define the next-generation experience vision for human and AI collaboration, including agent-assisted investigations, human-in-the-loop decisions, explainability, trust, and mechanisms for users to review or override automated actions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a talented team of product designers while raising standards for design craft, critique, decision-making, and execution.
  • Own the UX research function and ensure product decisions are grounded in customer interviews, usability testing, support and feature-request signals, and product instrumentation.
  • Partner with Product Management and Engineering from the earliest stages of major initiatives, helping define problems, shape scope, and establish effective solutions rather than simply refining predetermined concepts.
  • Build and evolve the design system, reusable patterns, and interaction frameworks that enable engineering teams to deliver a consistent experience efficiently.
  • Establish measurable design and usability standards, including benchmarks for task success, core workflow completion, time to resolution, adoption, and support deflection.
  • Lead experience strategy for major platform migration and consolidation initiatives, ensuring customers experience meaningful improvements throughout the transition.
  • Represent the customer experience in executive forums, roadmap reviews, business reviews, and strategic planning discussions.
  • Collaborate across product, engineering, customer experience, and other functions to ensure customer needs remain central to product priorities and decisions.
  • 10+ years of experience in product design, including at least 4 years leading and developing product designers.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership of shipped products, experiences, and design decisions.
  • Proven experience defining and executing an experience vision for complex products, translating strategy into scalable patterns and shipped experiences.
  • Experience designing for complex, expert-user enterprise software where customers perform demanding professional workflows, ideally within security, IT operations, observability, data infrastructure, or a similar domain.
  • Demonstrated experience designing AI-powered or agentic product experiences, with a thoughtful perspective on trust, transparency, control, explainability, and failure modes.
  • Strong systems-thinking capabilities, including the ability to reason about platform-level information architecture and develop design systems that accelerate rather than constrain product teams.
  • Strong understanding and practical use of UX research, including customer interviews, usability testing, and evidence-based product decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate difficult customer or product insights to senior executives and drive decisions.
  • Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, direct feedback, talent development, and building high-performing design teams.
  • Ability to operate with urgency, sound judgment, and adaptability in a fast-moving environment where not every input is available upfront.
  • Located in the United States, with the San Francisco Bay Area preferred.
  • Bonus: Experience in cybersecurity or designing for security operations, insider risk, or data protection teams.
  • Bonus: Experience leading design through a major platform migration or consolidating multiple products into a unified platform.
  • Bonus: Experience building a design function, including hiring, leveling, processes, and operating rhythms.
  • $250,000–$275,000 base salary, with equity and bonus opportunities.
  • Market-competitive compensation with geo-based adjustments based on location, experience, and interview performance.
  • Fully remote work within the United States, with the San Francisco Bay Area preferred.
  • Opportunity to shape the future of enterprise data security and AI-enabled security workflows.
  • Senior-level ownership of product experience strategy and design direction.
  • Direct partnership with product, engineering, customer experience, and executive leadership.
  • Leadership opportunity within a talented product design organization.
  • Ability to influence the development of human-and-AI interaction patterns for complex professional workflows.
  • Opportunity to establish and evolve design systems, UX research practices, and measurable usability standards.
  • Exposure to complex platform migration and product consolidation initiatives.
  • High-impact, fast-moving environment with significant influence over product direction and customer experience.
  • Opportunity to work on emerging AI and agentic product experiences where trust, transparency, and human control are central design considerations.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
