The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an English to Maltese Review Lead for UI, Marketing & Product Content based in Switzerland.

As the English-to-Maltese Review Lead, you will serve as the primary linguistic quality expert for a major global technology localization program, ensuring consistent, high-quality content across user interfaces, marketing campaigns, product information, legal materials, and customer support. You will take ownership of local language quality standards, aligning reviewers and post-editors with client expectations and established linguistic guidelines. Working closely with the client’s Language Manager, you will lead quality discussions, manage escalations, and oversee evidence-based arbitration. You will analyze quality trends, identify recurring issues, and transform insights into actionable improvements to style guides and review practices. Through targeted coaching, training sessions, and regular alignment meetings, you will strengthen the capabilities of the Maltese language community. This remote freelance opportunity offers approximately 24 hours of work per month, with long-term collaboration, structured onboarding, and access to established linguistic resources. Join an international, quality-focused environment where your linguistic expertise will directly influence the consistency and effectiveness of multilingual digital experiences.

Accountabilities:

  • Own linguistic quality standards: Interpret client style guides, glossaries, and quality requirements, documenting updates and assessing their impact across content types and quality categories.
  • Monitor client expectations: Track corrections, feedback, and decisions shared by the client’s Language Manager during calibration sessions and quality discussions, capturing both documented requirements and implicit expectations.
  • Drive community alignment: Organize regular alignment roundtables to establish a shared understanding of quality standards among post-editors, reviewers, and language leads.
  • Report on quality performance: Prepare structured monthly quality reports covering performance trends, priority improvement areas, style guide updates, recurring errors, and arbitration outcomes.
  • Coach and develop reviewers: Deliver individualized feedback, facilitate shadowing sessions, and design targeted training based on real review examples and alignment data.
  • Improve linguistic guidelines: Identify recurring justification patterns and propose evidence-based style guide enhancements, sharing relevant cross-language insights with the wider quality management team.
  • Manage arbitration and escalations: Ensure all cases submitted to the client are accurate, valid, and supported by clear evidence, while addressing disagreements through structured resolution processes.
  • Maintain client relationships: Serve as the primary contact for quality-related discussions with the client’s Language Manager, communicate concerns appropriately, and track evolving expectations to minimize misalignment.
  • Own quality outcomes: Take responsibility for the locale’s review service performance, including RQE audit results, alignment performance, and the integrity of the arbitration process.
  • Relevant experience: 3–5+ years of experience in Localization Quality Assurance (LQA), senior language leadership, or localization quality governance.
  • Client and stakeholder management: Demonstrated experience acting as the primary contact for client Language Managers, managing formal arbitrations and escalations, and facilitating constructive conflict resolution.
  • Quality evaluation expertise: Strong practical knowledge of localization quality frameworks, including RQE, LQE, error categorization, severity mapping, and quality audit methodologies.
  • Style guide and expectation analysis: Ability to interpret style guide and glossary changes, identify implicit client expectations, and apply appropriate quality tolerances across different content types, including marketing, legal, and UI content.
  • Coaching and facilitation: Hands-on experience delivering one-to-one reviewer coaching, conducting shadowing sessions, facilitating alignment meetings, and preparing structured quality reports.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to identify error patterns, monitor severity trends and alignment scores, investigate recurring issues, and translate findings into practical improvements.
  • Language proficiency: Native-level proficiency in Maltese and professional-level English, with excellent linguistic judgment and attention to detail.
  • Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication, sound judgment, and the ability to explain linguistic decisions clearly and diplomatically to clients and language professionals.
  • Preferred qualifications: Experience supporting large-scale technology localization programs and familiarity with calibration, quality alignment, or review management tools.
  • Location and onboarding: Must be physically based in India for this opportunity, complete the required background check, and use the dedicated device provided for project work.
  • Remote flexibility: Work remotely from India, collaborating with international teams across different locations.
  • Flexible freelance engagement: Independent contractor arrangement offering approximately 24 hours of work per month.
  • Long-term collaboration: Opportunity to build a sustained working relationship on high-visibility global technology products.
  • Predictable project volume: Ongoing monthly work with an expected volume of approximately 24 hours.
  • Structured onboarding: Comprehensive onboarding to help you understand project workflows, quality standards, and client expectations.
  • Ongoing professional development: Access to continued training, established linguistic resources, and quality improvement practices.
  • International collaboration: Work alongside experienced localization professionals and contribute to cross-locale quality initiatives.
  • Dedicated work equipment: A dedicated device will be provided for project-related activities.
  • Meaningful professional impact: Influence language quality standards, reviewer development, and the overall consistency of Maltese digital content.
  • Compensation: Freelance compensation details are not specified in the original job description and can be clarified during the recruitment process.
  • Healthcare and additional perks: These are not specified for this independent contractor engagement.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
