This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Events, Sr Manager based in the United States.
The Senior Events Manager will lead the global events strategy and execution, transforming in-person and virtual experiences into measurable business results. This senior individual contributor role combines strategic planning, budget ownership, event execution, and performance measurement to support business growth across the customer lifecycle. You will oversee the global events portfolio, prioritizing investments that generate new business opportunities while strengthening customer engagement, retention, and expansion. Working closely with Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Sales Enablement, you will ensure each event supports broader go-to-market objectives. You will build scalable processes, develop effective field engagement programs, and use data-driven insights to improve event performance. This role offers the opportunity to shape global market presence and directly influence pipeline contribution and commercial outcomes.
Accountabilities:
- Global Events Strategy: Own the global events calendar and prioritization framework, selecting conferences, company-hosted events, and partner activations based on pipeline potential, audience alignment, competitive positioning, and historical performance. Align the annual strategy with commercial priorities and segment growth objectives.
- Budget and Financial Management: Manage the global events budget, forecasting, vendor contracts, negotiations, and post-event reconciliation. Track return on investment, cost per opportunity, and customer engagement costs to optimize spending and guide investment decisions.
- Event Planning and Execution: Oversee end-to-end logistics, including venue and vendor selection, registration, booth and experience design, staffing, shipping, on-site coordination, and post-event activities. Develop repeatable execution playbooks and direct local and contract staff to deliver consistent, high-quality experiences across markets.
- Event Communications and Engagement: Build integrated pre-event outreach and registration campaigns, on-site engagement programs, and post-event follow-up sequences. Coordinate with Revenue Marketing on demand generation and account targeting, and with Customer Marketing on adoption, retention, and cross-selling initiatives.
- Sales and Customer Success Enablement: Establish strong working relationships with Sales, Customer Success Managers, Sales Enablement, and Solution Engineering. Prepare account lists, talking points, competitive insights, meeting schedules, and event-specific briefing materials, while ensuring clear responsibilities for engagement and follow-up.
- Performance Measurement and Reporting: Set measurable goals for each event, including sourced and influenced pipeline, meetings, customer engagements, and new contacts. Maintain performance dashboards, track results through CRM systems, conduct structured post-event reviews, and present ROI insights and recommendations to senior marketing leadership.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Marketing to align event programming and messaging with market positioning and competitive differentiation. Work with Marketing Operations to ensure accurate attribution, effective lead routing, and reliable data capture across the events portfolio.
- Continuous Improvement: Use event results, Sales and Customer Success feedback, and performance analytics to refine prioritization, strengthen conversion, improve cost efficiency, and maximize the commercial impact of future programs.
- 8–10 years of event marketing experience, with a proven track record of managing global event programs that generate measurable pipeline and business outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience planning and executing events that support new customer acquisition, ideally within Higher Education and/or Business and Government markets.
- Strong familiarity with the Higher Education events landscape, including EDUCAUSE, regional consortia, government technology conferences, and other sector-specific gatherings.
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships with Sales, Customer Success, Sales Enablement, and Solution Engineering teams, coordinating pre-event preparation, on-site responsibilities, and post-event follow-up.
- Experience managing six- or seven-figure event budgets, negotiating vendor contracts, forecasting expenditure, and reporting financial performance and ROI to senior stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to maintain detailed calendars, build scalable processes, and manage multiple concurrent events across different regions without compromising quality.
- Data-driven approach to event measurement, including setting goals in advance, tracking pipeline outcomes through CRM platforms, and using structured post-event analysis to improve future performance.
- Experience directing local and contract event staff and coordinating external partners without relying on a permanent internal events team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling attendee communications, effective Sales briefing materials, and clear executive-level performance reports.
- Preferred: Experience marketing to both Higher Education and Business and Government audiences, including federal, state, local, or defense sectors.
- Preferred: Familiarity with EdTech or SaaS events and competitive conference environments, including strategies for differentiating a brand at industry events.
- Preferred: Experience centralizing event operations after working in distributed or regional field marketing structures.
- Preferred: Experience integrating events into account-based marketing (ABM) programs and using attendance data to activate or accelerate account-level campaigns.
- Preferred: Exposure to AI-assisted event tools for audience targeting, personalized communications, and automated post-event follow-up.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain authorization throughout employment. Visa sponsorship and immigration support are not provided.
- Annual base salary: $105,200–$130,000, depending on experience, skills, location, and internal compensation considerations.
- Additional compensation may include a company bonus or other incentives, where applicable.
- Remote work within the United States.
- Opportunity to lead a global events portfolio and influence business development, customer engagement, and revenue outcomes.
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams across Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success.
