The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Junior Software Developer based in United States.

This is a hands-on software development opportunity supporting mission-critical federal applications. You’ll contribute to Angular and Node.js web applications that support Coast Guard operations and vessel documentation services. Working within an Agile sprint team, you’ll build enhancements, resolve defects, test code, and support application releases. The role offers exposure to secure development, CI/CD, APIs, relational databases, and enterprise application sustainment. You’ll collaborate closely with senior engineers, QA professionals, and government stakeholders while developing your technical skills. The environment values clean, maintainable code, continuous learning, strong teamwork, and reliable delivery. This role is particularly suited to an early-career developer who wants meaningful experience in a secure federal technology environment.

Accountabilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain Angular front-end components and Node.js services for enterprise web applications.
  • Implement user stories, enhancements, defect fixes, and maintenance tasks according to sprint commitments and acceptance criteria.
  • Support PostgreSQL integrations and application interfaces with services such as Login.gov and Pay.gov.
  • Write clean, secure, maintainable, and well-documented code aligned with program standards and OWASP secure coding practices.
  • Identify and remediate application vulnerabilities discovered through CI/CD pipelines and security scanning processes.
  • Develop and maintain automated unit tests and support QA activities across development, test, and staging environments.
  • Assist senior engineers with troubleshooting production incidents, application defects, and performance issues.
  • Submit merge or pull requests, participate in peer code reviews, and incorporate review feedback.
  • Support application deployments and promote builds through development, test, staging, and production environments.
  • Ensure user-facing functionality meets Section 508 accessibility requirements.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including daily standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Maintain accurate work-item status, estimates, implementation notes, and technical documentation.
  • Support scheduled application maintenance releases, demonstrations, and user acceptance testing.
  • Use approved AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality.
  • Provide occasional after-hours support for production releases or incidents when required.
  • 1–3 years of professional experience developing web applications.
  • Experience with Angular, React, Vue, or a comparable modern front-end framework.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS.
  • Working knowledge of Node.js and RESTful API development or consumption.
  • Experience working with relational databases and writing SQL queries.
  • Experience with Git-based version control and merge request or pull request workflows.
  • Experience writing and maintaining unit tests.
  • Familiarity with secure software development practices and secure coding principles.
  • Experience working within an Agile or Scrum development environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable DHS/U.S. Coast Guard suitability determination for a Moderate Risk Public Trust position (Tier 2 / SF-85P).
  • Ability to work core hours of 8:00 AM–4:30 PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday.
  • Ability to provide occasional after-hours support for production releases or incidents.
  • No degree is required when relevant professional experience demonstrates the necessary capabilities.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Experience with Angular and TypeScript, including component architecture, reactive forms, and RxJS, is preferred.
  • Additional experience with PostgreSQL, C#/.NET, Microsoft SQL Server, federal identity or payment services, CI/CD tools, Docker, OpenShift, or enterprise production applications is advantageous.
  • Experience supporting federal, DoD, DHS, or Coast Guard customers is a plus.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+ CE or an AWS Developer certification are valued.
  • Existing federal suitability or an active federal background investigation is a plus.
  • Salary of up to $80,000 per year for new hires.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with employee-only healthcare premiums fully employer-paid.
  • Life insurance.
  • Flexible/combined paid time off.
  • Bereavement leave.
  • 11 company-paid holidays.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching.
  • Professional development and training reimbursement.
  • Fully remote work arrangement within the United States.
  • Opportunity to work on mission-critical federal applications and gain experience with modern software development, security, and cloud technologies.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
