The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Legal, Risk & Compliance - Investigations & Forensic Senior Consultant based in the United States.

As a Senior Consultant in Investigations and Forensic Services, you will lead critical workstreams involving fraud investigations, regulatory enforcement, forensic accounting, e-discovery, and litigation support. You will help clients uncover potential misconduct, analyze complex financial and digital evidence, and develop clear, evidence-based findings to support important business and legal decisions. Working alongside experienced engagement leaders, legal professionals, and multidisciplinary teams, you will take ownership of project execution, investigative analysis, and client deliverables. The role combines analytical rigor, investigative problem-solving, and client relationship management in a dynamic professional services environment. You will also contribute to project planning, risk monitoring, and the development of junior consultants. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced professional seeking to deepen their forensic expertise while making a meaningful impact across diverse industries and complex investigations.

Accountabilities:

  • Investigative Workstream Leadership: Lead assigned workstreams across fraud investigations, regulatory enforcement, forensic accounting, e-discovery, and litigation support, from initial planning through execution and final delivery, under the guidance of engagement leadership.
  • Case Planning and Project Management: Coordinate investigative activities, establish timelines, manage deliverables, monitor progress, and track assigned budgets, risks, dependencies, and scope throughout the engagement.
  • Fact-Finding and Evidence Collection: Conduct interviews, gather evidence, review financial transactions, and examine relevant records to identify irregularities, investigate allegations, and establish the facts surrounding potential misconduct.
  • Forensic Financial Analysis: Analyze financial records, transactional data, and complex documentation to trace funds, investigate discrepancies, identify suspicious patterns, and support follow-the-money procedures.
  • Digital Evidence and Data Analytics: Apply forensic accounting techniques, data analytics, e-discovery methodologies, and digital tools to organize, examine, interpret, and connect financial and electronic evidence.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Support: Assist with compliance risk assessments, regulatory reviews, and investigations involving complex legal, financial, governance, cybersecurity, or compliance-related issues.
  • Investigative Strategy Development: Contribute to investigative approaches and adapt procedures as new evidence emerges, case requirements evolve, or additional risks are identified.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare accurate workpapers, investigative chronologies, reports, exhibits, analytical summaries, and client-ready presentations that communicate findings clearly, objectively, and with appropriate supporting evidence.
  • Client and Stakeholder Communication: Present findings and updates to clients, legal counsel, and internal leadership, translating complex information into practical insights and defensible conclusions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work effectively with internal and external counsel, forensic accountants, technology specialists, and other consulting professionals to deliver coordinated, high-quality investigative services.
  • Quality Assurance and Risk Monitoring: Review evidence and deliverables for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and alignment with engagement objectives while monitoring deadlines, changing priorities, and project risks.
  • Team Development and Coaching: Support the professional development of Consultants and Interns by reviewing their work, providing constructive feedback, sharing investigative techniques, and strengthening analytical capabilities across the team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to effective project execution and investigative methodologies while maintaining a strong focus on client service, professional integrity, and the quality of deliverables.
  • Education: A bachelor's degree is required. Preferred fields include Accounting, Analytics or Data Science, Business Administration or Management, Computer Science or Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Criminal Justice, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Experience: Three to five years of relevant experience in forensic accounting, fraud investigations, regulatory matters, e-discovery, litigation support, compliance, or related professional services.
  • Investigative Experience: Demonstrated experience managing substantial portions of investigative or forensic workstreams, with appropriate oversight from engagement leadership.
  • Project Management Skills: Experience planning and executing project activities, coordinating deliverables, tracking timelines, monitoring assigned budgets, and managing workstream scope and risks.
  • Forensic and Analytical Expertise: Experience gathering and evaluating evidence, reviewing financial transactions, analyzing complex records, identifying discrepancies, and developing well-supported investigative findings.
  • Technology and Data Skills: Familiarity with data analytics, digital investigative tools, e-discovery platforms, and methods for analyzing electronic evidence. The ability to use technology to identify patterns and support case development is important.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of compliance risk assessments, regulatory requirements, corporate governance, or related investigative considerations in complex business environments.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Strong analytical judgment and the ability to distinguish verified facts from assumptions and preliminary conclusions, synthesize complex information, and adapt investigative approaches as circumstances change.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional reports, document findings objectively, and present conclusions to clients, counsel, and senior stakeholders.
  • Leadership and Coaching: Experience reviewing junior team members' work, providing practical feedback, and supporting the development of colleagues through collaborative knowledge-sharing.
  • Client Service and Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and a client-focused mindset, with the ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate across legal, financial, technical, and consulting teams.
  • Attention to Detail and Professional Integrity: High standards of accuracy, confidentiality, organization, and ethical conduct when handling sensitive information and complex investigations.
  • Preferred Certifications: CPA, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), ACEDS, Relativity certifications, or other relevant professional credentials are advantageous but not required.
  • Preferred Industry Background: Previous experience in consulting, accounting, legal services, regulatory environments, or other professional services organizations is a plus.
  • Location and Travel: Ability to work within a hybrid model, combining remote work with time in local offices and at client sites. Travel, including occasional out-of-state travel, may be required depending on client engagements and project needs.
  • Competitive Base Salary: Annual base salary ranging from $88,000 to $132,000, depending on experience, skills, and geographic location.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
