The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Product Manager, Design Systems & Accessibility based in the United States.

As a Principal Product Manager, you will define the strategy and roadmap for design systems and digital accessibility across a large-scale digital product ecosystem. You will lead foundational initiatives that empower product, design, and engineering teams to deliver consistent, inclusive, and high-quality customer experiences. This role offers the opportunity to establish product management practices for shared systems, strengthen accessibility standards, and improve adoption through measurable outcomes. You will collaborate with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to translate complex technical challenges into scalable product solutions. You will also help shape the future of AI-enabled product development by evolving shared tools and standards for emerging workflows. This fully remote position is ideal for a strategic product leader who combines technical fluency, strong product judgment, and a passion for accessible, user-centered innovation.

Accountabilities:

  • Product Strategy and Roadmap: Define and lead the product vision, strategy, and integrated roadmap for design systems, aligning priorities with business objectives, user needs, and long-term scalability.
  • Performance Measurement: Establish meaningful success metrics, product health indicators, and measurement frameworks to evaluate adoption, demonstrate customer and business value, and guide investment decisions.
  • Investment Prioritization: Balance new capabilities, system quality, accessibility, adoption, technical improvements, support, and enablement to maximize impact across multiple product teams.
  • Customer Discovery and Adoption: Develop a deep understanding of designers', engineers', and product managers' workflows, needs, and pain points. Use customer feedback, adoption data, and product insights to identify barriers and prioritize improvements.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Build alignment across Product, Design, Engineering, Design Technology, Developer Experience, and senior leadership on strategic priorities, technical trade-offs, dependencies, and expected outcomes.
  • Accessibility Strategy and Governance: Define product priorities for accessibility systems, tooling, integrations, and product health capabilities, helping teams consistently deliver inclusive digital experiences.
  • Accessibility Monitoring and Remediation: Advance automated accessibility checks, including CI/CD integrations, audits, and remediation workflows, enabling teams to detect and address issues earlier in the development lifecycle.
  • Systemic Issue Resolution: Analyze audit findings and accessibility health signals to identify recurring problems and determine when shared components, centralized tooling, or common development practices can provide scalable solutions.
  • Enterprise Accessibility Alignment: Partner with accessibility program leadership to translate organizational policies, priorities, and risk considerations into actionable product investments.
  • AI-Native Product Development: Evolve design systems and accessibility standards to support AI-enabled workflows, ensuring shared components, documentation, and guidance can be effectively consumed and applied by AI tools and agents.
  • Emerging Technology and Innovation: Collaborate with technical teams to evaluate AI-enabled development tools, assess their impact on accessibility, quality, adoption, and efficiency, and incorporate relevant insights into the product roadmap.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor emerging design system practices, accessibility standards, and AI developments to ensure foundational products remain effective, scalable, and aligned with evolving customer and organizational needs.
  • Professional Experience: At least 10 years of product management or relevant professional experience, including 3 or more years leading complex design systems, internal platforms, shared tools, or other horizontal products across multiple teams.
  • Strategic Product Leadership: Proven ability to develop product strategies and roadmaps, prioritize investments, manage complex dependencies, and translate ambiguous business and technical challenges into clear direction.
  • Design Systems Expertise: Strong understanding of design systems and their strategy, adoption, governance, evolution, and role in delivering consistent digital experiences. Demonstrated experience managing design systems as products is highly desirable.
  • Accessibility Knowledge: A strong commitment to accessible and inclusive digital products, with the motivation and ability to deepen expertise in digital accessibility. Familiarity with WCAG 2.2 Level AA and its application in digital product development is a plus.
  • Technical Fluency: Ability to understand complex technical systems, evaluate architectural and implementation trade-offs, and collaborate credibly with designers, engineers, and technical leaders.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Experience defining product metrics, analyzing adoption and performance data, measuring customer and business outcomes, and using evidence to guide prioritization and investment decisions.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Demonstrated ability to influence roadmaps and decisions across distributed teams without direct authority, build stakeholder alignment, and communicate complex concepts clearly to both working teams and senior executives.
  • Platform Adoption: Experience driving adoption of internal platforms, shared systems, or foundational capabilities across multiple teams is an advantage.
  • AI Fluency: Strong understanding of AI-enabled product development and practical experience using AI to improve product management workflows. Familiarity with AI development tools, Model Context Protocol (MCP), AI skills, agents, evaluation systems, or related emerging technologies is beneficial.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent product judgment, systems thinking, and the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable priorities and measurable outcomes.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and build productive partnerships across design, engineering, product, and leadership teams.
  • Work Location: Ability to work remotely from an eligible location within the United States, subject to applicable geographic restrictions.
  • Competitive Base Salary: Annual base salary ranges vary by location:
  • $182,100–$290,900 in California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington State, and Washington, D.C.
  • $173,000–$276,400 in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia.
  • Compensation for other locations may differ. Actual offers depend on experience, performance, and work location.
  • Equity Awards: Eligibility for equity awards in addition to base salary, subject to applicable factors and program terms.
  • Remote Work Flexibility: A distributed work model that allows employees to work from an approved location of their choice within the United States, with limited geographic exceptions.
  • Collaborative Work Environment: A culture built around trust, flexibility, accountability, and effective collaboration across distributed teams.
  • Career Growth and Innovation: Opportunities to influence company-wide product foundations, shape accessibility strategy, and contribute to emerging AI-enabled development practices.
  • Inclusive Workplace: A commitment to diversity, accessibility, belonging, and equal employment opportunities.
  • Professional Impact: The opportunity to influence foundational systems used by multiple product teams and improve the quality, consistency, and accessibility of digital customer experiences.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
