The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Product Manager, Sandboxes based in Canada.

This is a strategic product leadership role focused on the future of secure, isolated execution environments for developers and AI agents. You will own the vision, roadmap, adoption, revenue, and long-term success of a major infrastructure product area. Working in a remote-first and globally distributed environment, you will partner closely with engineering, design, security, operations, and go-to-market teams. You will engage directly with developers and customers to understand their workflows, pain points, and evolving needs. The role combines deep technical product management with hands-on execution, experimentation, and continuous improvement. You will simplify complex tradeoffs across security, performance, networking, storage, scalability, and cost into intuitive product experiences. Your work will help shape how modern software development and AI-powered workflows safely execute untrusted or agent-generated code.

Accountabilities

  • Own the long-term vision, product strategy, roadmap, revenue, adoption, and business results for the sandbox product area.
  • Develop a deep understanding of developers, customers, their workflows, and the security, performance, compatibility, and cost constraints they face.
  • Engage directly with developers building AI agents, coding environments, CI and testing systems, and other workloads requiring secure, isolated execution.
  • Translate complex infrastructure tradeoffs involving isolation, startup time, performance, density, networking, storage, and cost into simple, compelling product experiences.
  • Define product priorities, feature scope, success metrics, and roadmap decisions in close partnership with engineering, design, security, operations, and go-to-market teams.
  • Lead iterative product development by working with customers and cross-functional teams to test hypotheses, measure adoption and impact, learn from releases, and continuously improve.
  • Drive product initiatives that strengthen adoption, ecosystem integration, reliability, scalability, unit economics, and revenue.
  • Build strong relationships across the developer ecosystem and use customer feedback and market insights to guide product investments.
  • Establish clear quarterly goals, OKRs, and progress reporting while maintaining accountability for major product outcomes.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives that make secure isolated execution accessible, reliable, and valuable for both developers and AI agents.
  • Significant product leadership experience, combined with prior professional experience as a software engineer, ideally within systems, infrastructure, platform engineering, developer tools, or cloud environments.
  • Deep empathy for developers and a demonstrated commitment to engaging directly with users to understand their needs and workflows.
  • Strong technical knowledge of sandboxes, microVMs, containers, virtualization technologies, and hypervisors, including their respective isolation and security boundaries.
  • Solid understanding of modern developer infrastructure, including Linux, container runtimes, orchestration, networking, storage, APIs, and cloud services.
  • Experience designing, building, or operating systems capable of executing customer-provided, untrusted, or AI-generated code at scale.
  • Comfort working through command-line interfaces and discussing APIs, SDKs, system architecture, and technical tradeoffs with engineers.
  • Experience building B2B or SaaS products, or a strong background in public cloud and developer infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of software supply-chain and security considerations, including multi-tenant isolation, identity, secrets management, observability, and reliability.
  • Ability to break complex technical challenges into small, valuable, releasable product increments.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to combine qualitative and quantitative data to define success metrics and prioritize investments.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills, with the ability to make complex technical concepts accessible to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving, distributed, and cross-functional environments.
  • A collaborative, hands-on mindset with the ability to balance strategic thinking with execution and ownership.
  • Experience taking products from greenfield development through scale is highly valuable.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in Canada; visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
  • Remote-first work environment with flexibility to manage your schedule and work from home.
  • Access to offices in Seattle and Paris for connection and collaboration.
  • Generous paid time off, quarterly Whaleness Days, and an end-of-year Whaleness break.
  • Home office support to help create a productive and comfortable workspace.
  • Technology stipend equivalent to US$100 net per month.
  • Annual learning and development stipend for conferences, courses, certifications, and continued education.
  • 16 weeks of paid parental leave after six months of employment.
  • Equity opportunities for full-time employees.
  • Comprehensive medical and retirement benefits, with coverage varying by country.
  • Paid holidays.
  • Compensation in Canada: CA$255,500–CA$365,000 plus equity.
  • Opportunity to work at the intersection of developer infrastructure, AI, security, and next-generation software development.
  • A globally distributed, collaborative environment with opportunities to influence a strategic product from concept through scale.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
