The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior AWS Cloud Architect – VMware Migration & AI Automation based in United States.

This role leads complex cloud transformation initiatives focused on migrating VMware-based datacenter workloads to AWS. You will own architecture, migration strategy, governance, and technical execution across large-scale transformation programs. The position combines deep AWS expertise with VMware migration, infrastructure automation, modernization, and emerging Agentic AI capabilities. You will assess infrastructure and application environments, define migration strategies, and establish scalable AWS landing zones and migration roadmaps. The role also provides technical leadership to architects and engineering teams while partnering with executives and technical stakeholders. You will help accelerate migration through AI-powered workflows, automated validation, dependency analysis, and intelligent migration planning. This is an opportunity to shape cloud architecture standards and deliver resilient, secure, and operationally effective AWS environments.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end migration of VMware-based datacenter workloads to AWS, using Agentic AI-driven migration solutions and providing technical direction throughout the transformation.
  • Lead infrastructure and application discovery using tools such as Matilda, AWS Discovery, Device42, or similar platforms, assessing servers, applications, databases, storage, and network dependencies for AWS readiness.
  • Analyze infrastructure inventory, utilization, business criticality, risks, and remediation requirements, and apply the AWS 6R framework—Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Re-Architect, Retire, and Retain—to determine appropriate migration approaches.
  • Define target AWS landing zone architecture aligned with enterprise security, networking, and governance standards, while developing migration roadmaps, migration waves, sizing recommendations, and cost models.
  • Design AWS infrastructure solutions using services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, FSx, EFS, Route 53, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, API Gateway, and Lambda, ensuring scalability, resiliency, security, and operational excellence.
  • Lead migration execution using Agentic AI platforms, Claude, and AWS AI services, including the design of AI agents, skills, workflows, and automation tools that accelerate migration activities.
  • Apply AI-driven dependency analysis and business prioritization to optimize migration waves, while driving automated validation, testing, cutover, and post-migration verification.
  • Provide technical leadership for VMware workload migrations using AWS MGN and related migration services, including modernization and containerization initiatives involving ECS or EKS where appropriate.
  • Oversee Windows and Linux upgrades, security hardening, patching, and compliance remediation for migrated workloads, resolving complex technical challenges to ensure successful transitions.
  • Define and enforce Infrastructure as Code standards using Terraform, establish reusable architecture patterns and modules, and integrate CI/CD, automation, and configuration management practices.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executives, technical leaders, and Architecture Review Boards by leading architecture governance, technical reviews, risk management, and migration decision-making.
  • Collaborate across application, infrastructure, network, security, and business teams while mentoring architects and engineers across cloud, network, security, and platform disciplines.
  • Approximately 19 years of professional experience, with extensive experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure transformation, and technical delivery.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in AWS discovery and assessment, VMware migration, AWS landing zones, and Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience with migration and discovery technologies such as Matilda Discovery, AWS Discovery, or comparable infrastructure assessment platforms.
  • Strong understanding of AWS architecture and migration services, including experience with services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, FSx, EFS, Route 53, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, API Gateway, Lambda, and AWS MGN.
  • Experience establishing cloud architecture standards, governance models, reusable infrastructure patterns, CI/CD practices, and automation frameworks.
  • Experience with Jenkins and familiarity with AI-enabled cloud migration approaches, including AWS Bedrock and Claude LLM, which are considered good-to-have skills.
  • Strong understanding of VMware environments, workload dependencies, migration readiness assessment, modernization, security remediation, and migration planning.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with executives, architects, engineers, business stakeholders, and Architecture Review Boards, while providing technical leadership and mentoring across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Compensation of up to $75 per hour.
  • Remote position available across the United States.
  • Health benefits.
  • Referral program.
  • Strong opportunities for professional growth and career advancement.
  • Opportunity to lead large-scale AWS cloud transformation and VMware migration initiatives.
  • Exposure to Agentic AI, AWS AI services, Claude, and AI-driven automation in enterprise migration environments.
  • High-impact technical leadership across cloud architecture, modernization, Infrastructure as Code, governance, and migration strategy.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
