The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Director, Patient Reported Outcomes based in United States.

This is a senior scientific and strategic leadership role focused on demonstrating the humanistic value of innovative therapies through high-quality patient-reported outcomes and evidence generation. You will shape global and regional evidence strategies across assets, therapeutic areas, and portfolios throughout the product lifecycle. The role combines scientific leadership with portfolio strategy, program governance, executive influence, and organizational development. You will work across clinical development, medical affairs, market access, biostatistics, data science, regulatory, safety, publications, and regional teams. A major focus will be translating complex evidence needs into rigorous, feasible research programs that support clinical, regulatory, reimbursement, and business decisions. You will also lead multidisciplinary teams, external research partners, and high-impact programs while advancing methodological innovation and scientific quality. The position offers an opportunity to shape enterprise-level evidence strategy and influence how patient-centered insights inform decisions across global markets.

Accountabilities

  • Lead global or regional PRO strategy across assigned assets, programs, therapeutic areas, or portfolios, ensuring patient-centered evidence is integrated throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Identify and prioritize evidence gaps and translate strategic priorities into integrated evidence plans, clinical development strategies, medical plans, lifecycle initiatives, launch preparation, and value and access strategies.
  • Advise senior leaders and governance bodies on evidence priorities, investment trade-offs, methodological approaches, feasibility, timing, risks, and resource allocation.
  • Provide scientific oversight for real-world evidence, observational and comparative effectiveness research, burden-of-illness studies, patient preference research, health economic models, indirect treatment comparisons, evidence syntheses, and value communication.
  • Guide the selection and implementation of fit-for-purpose PRO and clinical outcome assessment strategies while ensuring research protocols, analysis plans, models, and interpretations meet high standards of scientific rigor.
  • Lead complex evidence-generation programs from conception through dissemination and closure, overseeing budgets, vendors, timelines, risks, contracts, resources, quality controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Drive public-company and reporting readiness activities related to evidence generation, governance, documentation, reporting timelines, and disclosure requirements.
  • Partner with cross-functional and regional stakeholders to resolve competing priorities, facilitate decisions, communicate trade-offs, and translate complex scientific and economic evidence for technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Lead publication and scientific communication strategies and represent the organization at scientific congresses, professional associations, advisory forums, and other external engagements.
  • Build relationships with researchers, clinicians, payers, health economists, patient organizations, and other external experts while maintaining appropriate scientific, compliance, and governance standards.
  • Lead, coach, and develop direct reports while providing matrix leadership to cross-functional teams, contractors, and external research partners.
  • Strengthen organizational capabilities through functional standards, knowledge sharing, reusable resources, continuous improvement, training, and operating-model enhancements.
  • Advanced degree such as a Master's, PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent in health economics, outcomes research, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, psychometrics, pharmacy, medicine, or another relevant quantitative or clinical discipline.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in PRO, real-world evidence, outcomes research, epidemiology, market access evidence, medical affairs, clinical research, or a related discipline, with substantial biopharmaceutical or healthcare-sector experience.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing evidence strategies for complex assets, therapeutic areas, or portfolios in global or multi-regional environments.
  • Deep expertise in several relevant methodologies, including observational study design, causal inference, comparative effectiveness, economic modeling, indirect treatment comparisons, evidence synthesis, PRO/COA methods, patient preference research, or analysis of claims, EHR, registry, and clinical-trial data.
  • Proven ability to influence senior executives, governance bodies, and cross-functional teams without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Strong experience managing complex programs, budgets, vendors, risks, competing priorities, people, and matrix teams.
  • Excellent scientific communication, writing, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to translate complex evidence into clear recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of research, privacy, safety, publication, compliance, and data-governance requirements.
  • Experience in oncology and hematology, health technology assessment, reimbursement, regulatory strategy, or value communication across major global markets is strongly preferred.
  • A strong publication record and external scientific presence in PRO, epidemiology, health economics, or related disciplines is preferred.
  • Experience establishing functional standards, governance frameworks, centers of excellence, or enterprise-wide evidence-generation capabilities is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with statistical and analytical software, real-world data sources, economic-modeling applications, literature-review platforms, and regulated content systems is preferred.
  • Strong leadership qualities, analytical thinking, financial discipline, inclusiveness, adaptability, initiative, continuous-learning mindset, and results orientation.
  • Ability to work effectively across time zones and travel approximately 25–30% domestically and internationally as business needs require.
  • Base salary range of $222,000–$292,000 annually, with actual compensation determined by factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location.
  • Eligibility for an annual bonus plan.
  • Opportunity to receive discretionary equity awards and participate voluntarily in an employee stock purchase plan.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) plan.
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and/or Health Savings Account (HSA).
  • Life insurance.
  • Paid time off.
  • Wellness benefits and programs.
  • Fully remote work arrangement in the United States.
  • Senior leadership opportunity with direct people-management and matrix leadership responsibilities.
  • Opportunity to influence global evidence-generation strategies and contribute to patient-centered innovation across major markets.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
