The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer based in the United States.

Join a collaborative engineering team building technology that supports global emergency response and creates meaningful social impact. In this role, you will develop and enhance digital solutions that help nonprofit organizations secure emergency housing for people in crisis. You will also contribute to expanding access to free or discounted accommodation and supporting fundraising initiatives. Working closely with product, design, data, and operations teams, you will help transform complex challenges into practical, scalable solutions. The environment is fast-paced and mission-driven, with priorities that may evolve in response to global events and changing needs. This is an opportunity to apply your full-stack engineering expertise to products that make a tangible difference in vulnerable communities worldwide.

Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with product, design, data, and operations teams throughout the entire product development lifecycle, from discovery and planning to implementation and delivery.
  • Design, develop, and launch new product capabilities that enable nonprofit partners to arrange emergency housing for the people they support.
  • Build and improve tools that expand the global availability of free or discounted housing and facilitate fundraising and donation initiatives.
  • Partner with engineering and data colleagues to break complex, long-term projects into manageable milestones and deliver incremental improvements.
  • Analyze data insights and user research to identify product opportunities, recommend enhancements, and advocate for evidence-based decisions.
  • Quickly understand and navigate large, unfamiliar codebases to deliver program-specific features within an established product ecosystem.
  • Design, implement, and scale APIs and supporting services that meet evolving product and operational requirements.
  • Adapt to shifting priorities and emerging global needs while maintaining high engineering standards and delivering reliable solutions.
  • At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong track record of delivering production-ready software.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and deploying long-term technical initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong full-stack development expertise, ideally using React and TypeScript for front-end development and Java or Kotlin for back-end services.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, continuous integration, maintainable architecture, and incremental delivery.
  • Proven expertise in designing, developing, and scaling APIs and the services that support them.
  • Ability to use data analysis and user research to identify opportunities, build evidence-based recommendations, and influence product improvements.
  • Comfortable working in complex codebases, learning unfamiliar systems quickly, and delivering within an existing technical environment.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and prioritization skills, with the flexibility to respond to changing requirements.
  • A demonstrated interest in social impact, nonprofit initiatives, or mission-driven technology is preferred.
  • Familiarity with GraphQL is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and related web technologies is preferred.
  • Strong design awareness and user experience sensibilities are desirable.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
  • Compensation: $88–$98 per hour.
  • Healthcare coverage: Medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Retirement: Access to a 401(k) plan.
  • Work arrangement: Fully remote within the United States.
  • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
  • Contract type: W-2 contract engagement.
  • Expected start date: November 17, 2026.
  • Contract duration: Approximately 10 months, with the engagement expected to run through September 2027.
  • Mission-driven work: Contribute to technology that helps nonprofit organizations respond to emergencies and connect people in crisis with housing resources.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across product, design, engineering, data, and operations in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
