The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior IT Automation Engineer based in the United States.

The Senior IT Automation Engineer will lead the development of enterprise automation and AI-driven workflows that improve operational efficiency, employee experience, and business scalability. In this role, you will shape the strategy and operating model for an Automation and Agentic AI Center of Excellence, establishing standards that support secure, reliable, and repeatable solutions. You will own enterprise automation platforms and integrations, connecting business systems while maintaining strong security, governance, and performance practices. Working across IT, engineering, and business teams, you will identify operational bottlenecks and transform manual processes into scalable, intelligent workflows. You will leverage tools such as Claude, Glean, and Zapier to introduce practical AI capabilities that enhance productivity while preserving human judgment and accountability. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic planning, enabling you to influence automation priorities and guide initiatives from concept through adoption. This is an opportunity to make a measurable impact in a remote-first, fast-moving technology environment focused on innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Accountabilities

  • Lead cross-functional automation initiatives that improve operational scalability, employee experience, and business execution.
  • Own and maintain the enterprise automation and integration ecosystem, including Zapier and connected business applications, ensuring reliability, maintainability, performance, and alignment with security requirements.
  • Establish and operate an Automation and Agentic AI Center of Excellence, defining governance standards, documentation practices, intake processes, prioritization frameworks, and operating procedures.
  • Develop reusable frameworks, templates, libraries, and design patterns that enable self-service automation and accelerate the delivery of consistent, dependable solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal innovation teams to support AI adoption, enable new capabilities, and establish responsible governance practices.
  • Design modular, resilient integration architectures and automation pipelines with secure data handling, role-based access controls, and least-privilege principles built in.
  • Assess existing operational processes to identify inefficiencies, evaluate automation opportunities, and recommend data-informed improvements and strategic roadmaps to leadership.
  • Re-engineer complex operational workflows using AI-powered tools such as Claude and Glean, creating reusable solutions that improve efficiency while maintaining human oversight and measurable outcomes.
  • Translate organizational objectives into actionable automation strategies, balancing business value, technical feasibility, risk, and long-term maintainability.
  • Evaluate new tools, integrations, and automation approaches, assessing their security implications and suitability for enterprise use.
  • Establish best practices for automation development, deployment, documentation, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Partner with IT and engineering colleagues to troubleshoot integration issues, improve system reliability, and continuously optimize automation solutions.
  • Communicate technical decisions, project progress, risks, and expected business impact to technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
  • At least 7 years of experience in automation engineering, systems integration, or a comparable technical leadership role, including experience working with or closely alongside IT teams.
  • Demonstrated experience defining automation strategies, translating organizational objectives into practical roadmaps, and guiding initiatives from initial concept through implementation and adoption.
  • Hands-on expertise with enterprise workflow automation platforms, API-based integrations, and connected business systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft technologies such as Azure, Microsoft Entra, and Intune.
  • Proficiency in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript scripting, along with version control and structured software delivery practices.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS security, identity and access management, credential protection, privacy-aware data handling, and risk assessment for third-party tools and integrations.
  • Experience designing secure, scalable, modular automation workflows that are maintainable and reusable across teams.
  • Ability to analyze root causes, evaluate when automation is appropriate, and determine where standardization delivers the greatest operational value.
  • Demonstrated ability to build practical solutions that balance efficiency, security, reliability, and business needs.
  • Experience applying AI tools to redesign operational workflows and create reusable systems that support meaningful automation while retaining human judgment and oversight.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs and recommendations clearly to engineers, business partners, and executive stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking, sound technical judgment, and the ability to turn complex operational challenges into actionable solutions.
  • A proactive, continuous-improvement mindset, with the ability to take ownership, experiment with new approaches, and deliver measurable outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered productivity platforms such as Claude and Glean, as well as automation tools such as Zapier, is highly relevant.
  • Annual base salary of $130,000–$140,000 USD, plus bonus and equity.
  • Fully remote work environment within the United States.
  • Generous paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, and paid holidays.
  • Twelve weeks of paid parental leave.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with a 5% employer contribution, regardless of employee contributions.
  • Life and disability insurance coverage.
  • Stock options for all full-time employees.
  • One-time $500 reimbursement for setting up or upgrading a home office.
  • Annual education and professional development allowance.
  • Monthly digital reimbursement of $75 USD.
  • Access to the BetterUp platform for personal and professional coaching and development.
  • Opportunities to work with modern automation and AI technologies and contribute to meaningful operational improvements.
  • A remote-first, collaborative culture that values accountability, innovation, inclusion, and continuous learning.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
