The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Key Account Manager (m/w/d) based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to take strategic and operational ownership of a major retail sales channel within a fast-growing beauty environment. You will manage key retail relationships, develop growth strategies, and strengthen brand presence across physical points of sale. The position combines account management, commercial strategy, KPI analysis, forecasting, negotiations, and retail activation. You will use sales, margin, market, and competitive data to identify opportunities and translate insights into measurable growth plans. You will also lead major POS initiatives, promotions, displays, assortment strategies, and product launches. With significant ownership and autonomy, you will directly influence retail performance while building strong relationships with senior decision-makers. As the business scales, the role offers increasing opportunities to contribute to broader international retail expansion and long-term brand strategy.

Accountabilities:

  • Own the strategic and operational relationship with major retail accounts, building strong networks with decision-makers and developing long-term commercial partnerships.
  • Develop tailored account and growth plans, manage significant revenue volumes, identify new business opportunities, and contribute to expansion across national and international retail markets.
  • Monitor sales performance, market developments, margins, and competitive activity, taking responsibility for forecasts, budget planning, KPI tracking, and overall target achievement.
  • Translate commercial and market data into actionable initiatives designed to increase sales, improve account performance, and strengthen retail presence.
  • Plan and execute high-impact point-of-sale activations, promotional campaigns, display initiatives, and product launches that support brand development and retail performance.
  • Lead assortment strategy and ensure products are positioned effectively within retail environments, including monitoring in-store execution and conducting POS/store checks.
  • Independently conduct commercial negotiations covering trading conditions, assortment listings, promotional contributions, and annual agreements, with a strong focus on sustainable commercial outcomes.
  • Serve as a key cross-functional partner for retail initiatives, coordinating priorities and ensuring major account projects are delivered effectively.
  • Build on successful retail partnerships and take on increasing strategic responsibility as the business expands its presence across international markets.
  • Several years of experience in Key Account Management, ideally within FMCG, beauty, D2C, or another consumer-focused environment, with demonstrated success managing major retail or drugstore accounts.
  • Strong understanding of physical retail structures, processes, commercial requirements, and account management dynamics across the DACH or comparable European retail market.
  • Strong analytical and strategic capabilities, with the ability to confidently analyze sell-through data, KPIs, margins, market trends, and competitive information and turn insights into revenue-generating actions.
  • Proven negotiation skills, a confident and professional presence, and experience leading commercial negotiations, annual business reviews, assortment discussions, and trading-condition agreements.
  • Highly structured and organized working style, with the ability to maintain clarity and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong ownership mentality, independence, and the ability to communicate clearly, respectfully, and confidently with stakeholders at different levels.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for customer meetings, retail visits, and point-of-sale checks.
  • Fluent German and English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail, commercial focus, and strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Fair compensation based on qualifications and professional experience.
  • High-ownership role with significant trust, autonomy, and room to shape commercial strategy.
  • 100% remote working arrangement in Germany according to the source offering.
  • Strong growth potential with opportunities to take on additional strategic responsibility as the retail business scales.
  • €1,300 annual professional development budget for learning and personal growth.
  • Access to Nilo Health to support mental wellbeing.
  • Urban Sports membership.
  • Company support for a co-working space or home-office equipment.
  • Team events across Europe designed to strengthen collaboration and company culture.
  • Opportunity to directly influence retail growth, brand visibility, and the development of international retail strategy.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
