The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Network Engineer based in United States.

This role provides advanced networking expertise within a managed services environment, serving as a senior escalation point for complex network and firewall issues. You will take ownership of critical incidents, lead technical investigations, and drive solutions from detection through resolution and post-incident review. The position has a strong focus on Palo Alto Networks technologies, enterprise networking, security, stability, and scalability. You will also contribute to network projects, including technical scoping, design, implementation, and remediation. As a senior technical resource, you will guide junior engineers and collaborate closely with customers, vendors, security teams, and internal stakeholders. This is an opportunity to influence complex network environments while helping deliver reliable and secure infrastructure solutions.

Accountabilities:

  • Own the full lifecycle of complex network and firewall incidents, from detection and investigation through resolution, documentation, and post-incident review.
  • Lead the investigation and resolution of critical network incidents, coordinating effectively with internal teams, vendors, and customer stakeholders.
  • Make technical decisions and take end-to-end ownership of network issues, driving resolution without unnecessary escalation.
  • Lead the technical delivery of network projects, including scoping, estimation, design, implementation, and remediation.
  • Perform root cause analysis and develop long-term remediation strategies to prevent recurring network issues.
  • Validate and approve network changes, technical designs, and remediation strategies.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Palo Alto Networks equipment, including firewalls and related technologies.
  • Optimize and clean up existing network environments to improve stability, scalability, and performance while minimizing customer downtime.
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement network hardening and ensure identified risks are properly mitigated or remediated.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior network engineers.
  • Contribute to architecture documentation, network diagrams, operational runbooks, and other technical documentation.
  • Monitor developments in networking and security technologies and recommend new solutions where they can improve customer environments.
  • Accurately track time, project activities, and related work within the designated time-tracking system.
  • 10+ years of experience in an MSP, VAR, ISP, NOC, or enterprise IT environment, with a strong focus on troubleshooting and maintaining existing network infrastructure.
  • Fluent English communication skills are required.
  • Advanced, hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks technologies, including PAN-OS and Panorama.
  • Strong Palo Alto expertise covering firewall management, endpoint policy design, rule optimization, VPN configuration, and threat prevention.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, IPSec, SNMP, STP, VTP, and VLANs.
  • Experience with network infrastructure in virtualized environments such as VMware, including virtual networking, VLAN configuration, virtual switches, and network segmentation.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot performance and connectivity issues across multiple OSI layers.
  • Experience with application-level network troubleshooting, including packet inspection and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize, secure, and consolidate complex legacy network environments to support current and future business requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong customer-first approach to diagnosing and resolving network issues.
  • Active Palo Alto PCNSE certification is preferred; equivalent Fortinet NSE 4/7 certifications are also valued.
  • Experience with cloud networking across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including network configuration, security settings, and integration with on-premises environments, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of network security practices, including network hardening, monitoring, and threat assessment, is preferred.
  • Experience working in an MSP environment and familiarity with ITIL-based service delivery models is an advantage.
  • Experience delivering customer-facing IT network projects is preferred.
  • Degree or equivalent professional experience in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
  • Fully remote position.
  • Opportunity to work with a U.S.-based client in a senior technical capacity.
  • Exposure to complex enterprise networking, managed services, cybersecurity, and Palo Alto environments.
  • Opportunity to lead technical projects and serve as a senior escalation point for critical network issues.
  • Opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to architecture, documentation, and technical strategy.
  • Work involving modern networking, cloud, virtualization, and security technologies.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
