This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer Co-op, Agents based in Canada.

This is a full-time, remote software engineering co-op opportunity within an R&D environment focused on building intelligent agent-based technologies. You will contribute to the development of software that enables AI agents to perform useful tasks and interact effectively with complex systems. The role provides hands-on experience working on real engineering challenges while collaborating with experienced technical teams. You will have the opportunity to contribute code, explore emerging AI technologies, and help turn new concepts into reliable product capabilities. The position is well suited to an aspiring software engineer who is curious, eager to learn, and excited by the rapidly evolving field of AI agents. You will gain exposure to modern software development practices while working in a distributed, remote-first environment. This is an opportunity to build meaningful engineering experience and contribute to innovative R&D projects with practical applications.

Accountabilities:

  • Software Development: Contribute to designing, developing, testing, and improving software components that support AI agent capabilities and related product experiences.
  • Agent Technology: Explore and implement solutions involving AI agents, helping develop systems that can reason, interact with tools, and complete useful tasks.
  • Engineering Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers and technical stakeholders to understand requirements, evaluate approaches, and deliver reliable solutions.
  • Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while following established software engineering practices and contributing to code reviews and debugging activities.
  • Research & Experimentation: Investigate emerging technologies and approaches in AI and agentic systems, turning promising ideas into practical engineering prototypes or features.
  • Problem Solving: Analyze technical challenges, troubleshoot issues, and iterate on solutions based on testing, feedback, and performance.
  • Continuous Learning: Develop technical knowledge through hands-on work, mentorship, experimentation, and exposure to modern software development and AI engineering practices.
  • Education: Currently pursuing a degree or equivalent academic program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, with eligibility for a co-op placement.
  • Programming Skills: Experience with at least one modern programming language and a solid understanding of fundamental software engineering concepts.
  • Software Development: Familiarity with building, testing, and debugging software applications through academic, personal, or previous professional projects.
  • AI Interest: Genuine interest in artificial intelligence, AI agents, large language models, or emerging agentic software technologies.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with curiosity and persistence when tackling unfamiliar technical challenges.
  • Collaboration: Ability to communicate clearly, work effectively with others, receive feedback, and contribute positively within a technical team.
  • Learning Mindset: Demonstrated eagerness to learn new technologies, experiment with new approaches, and grow quickly in a fast-moving engineering environment.
  • Eligibility: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Compensation: CA$55,000–CA$68,000, with final compensation determined based on factors including location, experience, job-related skills, and demonstrated capabilities.
  • Remote Work: Fully remote position based in Canada.
  • Full-Time Co-op: Hands-on, full-time engineering experience within an R&D environment.
  • AI Exposure: Direct exposure to emerging AI-agent technologies and innovative software engineering challenges.
  • Professional Development: Opportunity to learn from experienced engineers and develop practical skills through meaningful projects.
