The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Technical Business Analyst based in Canada.

Overview

Join a globally distributed technology team transforming how businesses connect to cloud platforms, data centers, and digital infrastructure. As a Technical Business Analyst, you will bridge the gap between business stakeholders and software engineering teams, ensuring that customer needs are translated into clear, actionable technical requirements. You will lead discovery sessions, investigate root causes, and challenge assumptions to help teams solve the right problems. Working in an agile environment, you will own backlog refinement, clarify product logic, and keep developers moving efficiently. Your ability to understand APIs, system workflows, and complex business processes will be essential to delivering effective software solutions. This remote opportunity offers the chance to influence product development, improve collaboration, and contribute to innovative networking technology within a customer-focused, international team.

Accountabilities

  • Lead requirements discovery: Facilitate stakeholder interviews and discovery sessions to identify business needs, uncover underlying problems, challenge assumptions, and establish clear objectives and expected outcomes.
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications: Convert functional requirements into detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical documentation that enable engineering teams to implement effective solutions.
  • Visualize business and system processes: Develop workflows, user journeys, system diagrams, and process models to communicate complex concepts and establish a shared understanding across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Own backlog management: Maintain, organize, prioritize, and continuously refine the team's backlog to ensure development work aligns with business objectives, customer needs, and delivery priorities.
  • Support software engineering teams: Collaborate closely with developers to clarify business logic, answer domain-related questions, resolve ambiguities, and prevent unnecessary development delays.
  • Facilitate agile collaboration: Lead backlog refinement sessions and contribute to agile planning activities, ensuring teams understand project scope, dependencies, requirements, and expected business impact.
  • Improve business and engineering processes: Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, strengthen communication, and increase efficiency across product, business, and engineering functions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation: Keep requirements, technical specifications, business rules, and supporting documentation clear, comprehensive, and up to date throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Drive analytical problem-solving: Investigate complex business challenges, identify root causes, and recommend practical solutions that balance business priorities with technical considerations.
  • Professional experience: At least five years of dedicated experience in business analysis or a closely related technical role within agile software development teams.
  • Technical understanding: Practical experience with APIs, web services, web-based applications, and system workflows, with the ability to follow technical discussions and collaborate effectively with software engineers.
  • Requirements engineering: Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, document, and translate business requirements into precise technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Analytical thinking: Strong problem-solving and conceptual skills, including the ability to investigate root causes, ask targeted questions, challenge assumptions constructively, and identify the underlying needs behind stakeholder requests.
  • Agile methodology: Solid understanding of agile principles and practical experience applying them within software development teams, including backlog management and refinement.
  • Communication skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to audiences with different levels of technical expertise.
  • Product and domain judgment: Strong business intuition and the confidence to make informed decisions on routine business logic questions, helping engineers progress without unnecessary delays.
  • Organization and prioritization: Excellent planning, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaboration and ownership: A proactive, detail-oriented mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently while building effective relationships across business and engineering teams.
  • Adaptability: Comfort working in a distributed, international environment where priorities evolve and effective collaboration across time zones is essential.
  • Remote-first flexibility: Work remotely with access to coworking spaces when you want an alternative working environment.
  • Flexible leave options: Benefit from generous leave plans, including parental leave, birthday leave, and a program allowing you to purchase additional annual leave.
  • Health and wellness support: Access a wellness allowance and employee wellbeing initiatives designed to support your overall health.
  • Learning and development: Receive a generous study and training allowance, along with paid study leave to support your professional growth.
  • Modern workspaces: Enjoy access to contemporary office environments and a global coworking membership for additional flexibility.
  • Collaborative international team: Work alongside experienced technology professionals and emerging talent in an inclusive, knowledge-sharing environment.
  • Recognition programs: Be recognized for your contributions through employee appreciation and achievement programs.
  • Career development: Gain opportunities to strengthen your technical business analysis expertise while contributing to complex software development projects and innovative networking solutions.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
