The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Web Developer — Short-Term Project based in Canada.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on Web Developer to enhance an existing website and interactive data dashboard through a focused, short-term project. You will take ownership of existing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code, improving its reliability and maintainability while preserving current functionality. The role combines front-end development, Google Sheets integration, user-friendly content management, and visual refinement. You will help non-technical team members manage website content and dashboard data independently, reducing their reliance on ongoing developer support. You will also establish a reliable deployment workflow and provide clear technical documentation and training. The project is expected to take approximately two weeks, subject to an initial assessment of the existing codebase and project scope.

Accountabilities:

  • Codebase Review and Refactoring: Assess existing AI-generated HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, identify and resolve issues, and restructure code where necessary without introducing unnecessary rewrites or disrupting existing functionality.
  • Website and Blog Development: Enhance the main website and implement a straightforward blog publishing workflow that enables non-technical team members to publish weekly thought-leadership articles without developer assistance or manual code changes.
  • Dashboard and Data Integration: Connect the interactive globe and OIC-country Priority Index Dashboard to Google Sheets, allowing team members to update data and priorities without editing HTML directly.
  • UI and Transparency: Refine the website's visual presentation and develop a transparency page explaining the dashboard's data sources and methodology, maintaining a polished, professional editorial style suited to donors and institutional audiences.
  • Deployment and Version Control: Set up a proper code repository and a repeatable deployment workflow using Cloudflare Pages or an equivalent platform.
  • Documentation and Handover: Document the technical implementation, explain key decisions, and train non-technical team members to manage routine website content and dashboard data updates independently.
  • Project Delivery: Assess the existing codebase, establish realistic priorities, and deliver the agreed scope within the short project timeline.
  • Strong hands-on experience with vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; experience with a front-end framework is not required.
  • Proven ability to take ownership of undocumented, inherited, or AI-generated code, including code produced with tools such as Claude, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot.
  • Experience deploying static websites through Cloudflare Pages or an equivalent platform, with sound version-control and repository management practices.
  • Practical experience integrating Google Sheets with websites or dashboards to support data updates without direct code changes.
  • Ability to implement a simple, independently manageable blog publishing workflow for non-technical users.
  • Strong UI and visual design judgment, with the ability to create a clean, polished, professional editorial experience.
  • Excellent written English and the ability to communicate technical decisions clearly.
  • Experience documenting technical systems and handing them over effectively to non-technical users.
  • Availability to dedicate focused working time to a short-term project, including daily working-hour overlap with the Palestine/SWANA team.
  • Ability to deliver all project documentation, website content, and other deliverables in English.
  • Experience building interactive dashboards and data visualizations.
  • Familiarity with SEO fundamentals and web accessibility best practices.
  • Arabic language skills to support collaboration with the regional team.
  • Ability to recommend practical delivery priorities and balance speed, maintainability, and functionality within a tight timeline.
  • Fully remote working arrangement.
  • Focused, short-term project with an expected duration of approximately two weeks, subject to an initial codebase review and scope assessment.
  • Opportunity to contribute to a website and interactive dashboard designed to support data transparency and institutional engagement.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
