L'année atelier est la dernière année scolaire obligatoire pour les apprenants des petites classes et les apprenants avec des objectifs d'apprentissage individualisés des classes réelles de Neuhausen et de la ville de Schaffhouse. Occasionnellement, des jeunes d'autres communes sont également admis. L'objectif est que les apprenants trouvent une solution de suivi appropriée et soient bien préparés à l'entrée dans le monde professionnel. L'année atelier prépare principalement les élèves au monde professionnel. Le travail pratique dans l'atelier, la cuisine ou l'atelier artistique a une grande importance.
