The posting

JustMarkets is looking to appoint an experienced Independent Non-Executive Director (iNED) — Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee on a part-time basis to support our operations in South Africa.

We are expanding our presence in South Africa, and this is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance or audit professional who wants to contribute at Board level within a dynamic, international financial services company.

We are also open to first-time iNEDs, particularly experienced Senior Finance Managers, Financial Controllers, Heads of Finance, and Senior Audit professionals who are ready to take the next step into a Board role.

You will be responsible for providing independent oversight of financial reporting, audit, risk management, internal controls, and regulatory compliance, while supporting the company in maintaining strong governance standards and meeting FSCA expectations.

Join JustMarkets, where your expertise and independent judgement will have a direct impact on governance, risk oversight, and the continued development of our South African business. You will work alongside experienced professionals in a fast-moving financial environment and contribute to key Board-level decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Chair the Audit & Risk Committee and provide independent oversight of the company’s financial reporting, audit, risk management, and internal control frameworks;
  • Review financial statements, management accounts, statutory reports, and other key financial information presented to the Board;
  • Monitor the effectiveness of financial controls, governance processes, and risk management frameworks;
  • Oversee relationships with external auditors and review audit findings, recommendations, and remediation actions;
  • Support the Board in ensuring compliance with applicable FSCA requirements and other relevant South African regulatory obligations;
  • Review and challenge key financial, operational, regulatory, and compliance risks;
  • Provide independent judgement and constructive challenge to executive management and fellow Board members;
  • Monitor the integrity and effectiveness of internal reporting and control processes;
  • Support the company’s ODP licence application and ongoing regulatory readiness, where relevant;
  • Ensure that Audit & Risk Committee activities are conducted in line with applicable governance requirements and recognised good practice;
  • Report key Audit & Risk Committee matters, findings, and recommendations to the Board of Directors.

Requirements

  • Active CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA, or an Honours degree in Accounting or Finance;
  • Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience in a senior finance or audit role, such as Senior Audit Manager, Financial Controller, Head of Finance, or Finance Manager;
  • Direct experience within a regulated South African FSP environment, including Brokerage, Trading, Asset Management, Wealth Management, FinTech, or a similar financial services business;
  • Strong understanding of IFRS, financial controls, statutory reporting, audit, and risk management;
  • Good knowledge of FSCA regulatory requirements applicable to South African financial services businesses;
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and provide constructive challenge at Board level;
  • Strong analytical, financial, governance, and risk assessment capabilities;
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with senior management, auditors, regulators, and Board members;
  • Must meet applicable King IV independence criteria, with no employment relationship, material commercial ties, or conflicts of interest that could compromise independence;
  • Previous Board or iNED experience is not required — first-time iNED candidates are highly encouraged to apply;
  • Direct experience or exposure to an ODP (Over-the-Counter Derivatives Provider) framework will be a strong advantage;
  • Successful completion of the FSCA RE1 Examination will be a plus.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
